We are pleased offer this 1968 Porsche 912 presented in Tangerine over a black leatherette interior. Based off of the 6-cylinder 911, the 912 was introduced as Porsche’s entry-level sports car with a 1.6 L flat-four engine derived from the 356 SC. Having been previously sold on PCARMARKET in 2019, this 912 has since been treated to major mechanical service bringing it up to excellent running order. Showcasing classic styling and an optional 5-speed manual transmission, this 912 is ready to be enjoyed with approximately 75k miles showing on the odometer.
This 912 is finished in its factory special-order color of Tangerine. A professional glass-out respray was performed 15 years ago and the finish is said to remain in good condition with some minor bubbling and signs of road-going wear. A collection of detailed images is provided in the photo gallery. This 912 highlights chrome exterior brightwork and a single side-view mirror on the driver’s door. Factory Fuchs wheels are retained which come dressed in older Pirelli HP tires.
Inside, this 912 sports a black leatherette interior with a wooden dashboard and a newly installed wooden steering wheel. The factory radio remains in place and a custom wooden shift knob has been added. The cabin is noted to be in great overall condition with all gauges and accessories working properly, although the seller indicates some rust on the floor pans as well as a crack in the dashboard.
Power comes from a 1.6 L flat-four engine derived from the 356 SC model. 90 HP is delivered to the rear wheels by way of an optional 5-speed manual transmission, images of the drivetrain stampings are available for reference within the photo gallery. Over the last year, the following list of service items have been carried out:
Included records show an engine rebuild performed during the early 2000’s and the seller confirms this 912 to be in excellent running order with all routine maintenance up to date.
The sale of this 912 will include one key, the original jack, recent invoices and some service records from the previous ownership. If you have been in search of an early air-cooled Porsche, this 1968 912 is not to be overlooked.
