The Chevrolet Camaro SS (Super Sport) stands out as one of the most legendary muscle cars of its time, celebrated for its bold design, high-performance capabilities, and a diverse range of configurations that mark its significance in American automotive history. Powered by a 396ci “small block” stroker blueprinted engine equipped with a Quick Fuel 750 (cfm) carburetor and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, this 1969 example underwent a complete restoration by Rumbleseat Restorations in 2022. It has been refinished in Fanthom Green Metallic over a black interior and features an Eaton Posi limited-slip differential, power steering, a handling kit, and a rear disc brake conversion. This restored and upgraded Camaro SS is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

The Camaro SS showcases an aggressive front end, characterized by a wider, deeper grille, along with prominent “SS” badging displayed on the grille, fenders, and rear panel. As part of its restoration, this example was refinished in Fanthom Green Metallic with white side stripes and features a cowl hood, chrome-finished bumpers with overriders, fog lamps, front and rear lip spoilers, chrome accents, and dual exhaust outlets. It rides on aftermarket 18” American Racing wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The refurbished interior features front bucket seats and a rear bench in black vinyl, complemented by wood-grain appliqué on the dashboard and shifter console. It has been fitted with new instrumentation, including a tachometer, auxiliary gauges in the center console, a dash clock, and a temperature switch. Other accessories include front shoulder belts, rear lap belts, and a cabin heater.

Power comes from a blueprinted General Motor-sourced 396ci “small block” stroker engine equipped with Quick Fuel 750 (cfm) carburetor, which delivers a claimed 491 HP output to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission and an Eaton Posi limited-slip differential. The vehicle has been upgraded with a new aluminum intake, a performance HEI distributor, power steering, a handling kit, and a rear disc brake conversion. Invoices can be found in the gallery along with a restoration process book.

This sale will include a window sticker, a sales brochure, a “Restoration Process Book,” and a clean title.

Unless the blueprint heads were added to a GM crate engine, any clarification would be great. Thanks

  • autorossa 2 monthsago

Do you have photos of the trim tag on the firewall? Was this born a true SS, and do you have any supporting documentation? Also, description says GM-Sourced 396, when clearly it is a Blueprint engine based on the stamps on it. Not sure what "Gm sourced" is supposed to mean. I think a correction should be made. It is the 491HP Blueprint 396 engine, to avoid any confusion. (491HP engine based on the invoices provided in the gallery).

Are these fenders flared? I'm no Camaro fan per se but this car is absolutely stunning! Best looking one I've ever seen.
