The 1969 model year saw the introduction of a new long-wheelbase platform for the Porsche 911 as well as the debut of the 911E model which was positioned above the base 911T and featured a flat-six engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection. This example is one of 954 911E Coupes produced without Karmann bodywork of the model year and comes finished in Metallic Blue over a Black leatherette interior. It was recently serviced and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity showing a numbers matching engine and transmission.

This 911E came factory-finished in Metallic Blue (6853) and has been customized with an RS-style front bumper as well as light blue side stripes with black Porsche lettering. Other details include chrome trim and door handles, rubber bumper moldings, a polished driver-side mirror, anodized gold rear model lettering, pop-out rear quarter windows, and a single exhaust outlet. The car rides on 15” Fuchs wheels in a black and satin silver finish with Firestone Precision Sport tires. Some areas of the car have been refinished including the rear quarters which were repainted under the seller’s care. Several small stone chips are scratches are also noted on the exterior. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is lined with charcoal grey carpeting and trimmed in black leatherette upholstery with basketweave pattern inserts on the dashboard, door panels, and seat centers. Accessories include a vintage Blaupunkt Frankfurt stereo, manual window rollers, three-point seatbelts, a quartz clock, a heater, a locking glove box, and an aftermarket leather-wrapped Nardi steering wheel. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

This 911E is equipped with its original air-cooled 2.0-liter flat-six engine featuring mechanical twin-row Bosch fuel injection and a capacitive-discharge ignition system. Up to 140 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Standard equipment for the 911E includes four-wheel disc brakes and self-leveling hydropneumatic front struts. The seller indicates a new clutch and flywheel were installed in 2017 along with various engine gaskets and belts. In preparation for sale, the car was serviced with an oil and filter change, new spark plugs and ignition wires, a rebuilt distributor, a fuel tank flush, fuel line repairs, and adjustments to the mechanical fuel injection linkage.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, service records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Excellent bones, great for someone that likes to tinker with early Porsches.”

  • Lambogas (seller) 1 week, 6 daysago

@perrywestfield You need to turn the key into the on position and then hit the start button
It will not start by using the key alone , I hope that helps

  • perrywestfield (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

Hi. I saw you said it has a start button, does it have a working ignition and key(s) or would that have to performed later? tq

@targatarga @targatarga Not really sure about the suspension , we know its not stock. It has adjustable sway bar and different shocks but I cant say for sure if that is elephant or not

  • Lambogas (seller) 2 weeksago

@targatarga I did not get the RSR door panels with the car

  • targatarga (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

Does it come with the RSR door panels shown in the pictures in the binder? Also, is that elephant racing suspension?

  • DrT 2 weeksago

  • Lambogas (seller) 2 weeksago

@DrT photo 37 shows that there is no knob on top of the dash.

  • Lambogas (seller) 2 weeksago

@DrT The flares are metal, The starter button is located just below the key switch up under the dash and there is no knob on top of the dash by the radio speaker grill. It looks like a plastic cap laying there that our photo person did not remove prior to photos.

  • DrT (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

Are the fender flares steel or fiberglass? Where is the starter button located? And finally... what is the knob/protuberance on top of the dash? Thanks, great looking car.

@teescott Just submitted the photos , no he did not , it came this way , no rust in the battery tray area and I took photos there and submitted them. We did a compression ck on it about 6 or 8 months ago and the compression was fine , that was before we replaced the plugs and plug wires.

  • Lambogas (seller) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

    @targatarga Yes

  • targatarga (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

    Have the fenders been flared?

  • teescott (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

Can the seller post some close up pictures of the anodized window trim around the car. Also, did the seller spray undercoating on the underside of the car while he has owned the car? And is there any rust areas that are not shown in pictures such as battery tray area. Pics of that area and around inside of trunk would also be helpful. Do you have compression or leak down current results for the car?

  • cyeager (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 1 dayago

Hi @seller, would it be possible to post a start and or drive videos? Thanks

@Somer I went back thru the big binder and there are only 2 tickets with the odometer on them , it had 39074 miles on 5/31/14 and 39281 on 9/16/14 , both invoices have been submitted , the rest of the invoices are mainly for parts and interior work and miscellaneous items.

  • Lambogas (seller) 2 weeks, 3 daysago

@Duke It is an older Porsche and is not a complete no expense spared restoration.
The door pockets could use some attention, it has a push button starter switch that you could remove and go back to the stock key switch/starter. Just small things that could be updated or left alone.

  • Duke (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 3 daysago

I'm curious why you said "someone that likes to tinker with early Porsches." Does it need tinkering? What does it need?

  • Lambogas (seller) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

@Somer A good friend of mine bought this car for his nephew in late 2016 or early 17 and at that time it had 39k miles on it. He hardly ever drove the car , I havent known the car since it was new but have done some research and it appears to be correct but cant say definitively

  • Somer (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

Thanks. And the mileage question ?

  • Lambogas (seller) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

@Somer You can see the fenders have been flared so it has had a bit of paint work

  • Somer (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

Mostly original paint except for a fore mentioned spots. 40K miles or 140K ?

  • Lambogas (seller) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

@9146max I posted a photo of the numbers and you can see the COA

  • Lambogas (seller) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

    @9146max Yes it is

  • 9146max (registered bidder) 2 weeks, 4 daysago

    Matching numbers?
