Now available is this beautifully executed 1969 Porsche 911 “RS” tribute finished in Tangerine Orange over a custom reupholstered leather interior. Built to offer a visceral air-cooled driving experience, this RS-inspired tribute features a long list of performance upgrades including a newly built 2.7 L twin-plug flat-six engine. Having barely been driven since the installation of its new drivetrain, this custom built 911 is now being offered by its seller out of Illinois in excellent turn-key driving condition.
Prior to the current owner’s purchase, this 911 underwent a professional glass-out respray in Tangerine Orange. A fiberglass ducktail rear decklid has been added along with lightweight fiberglass bumpers, lightweight German-made Lexan rear quarter windows, steel fender flares and OEM factory-tinted Porsche glass. The door and window frames were also removed before being completely polished and clear coated. All new seals were installed at the time of the respray and the paint is said to remain in pristine condition (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Matching Tangerine painted calipers are situated behind Braid Fuchs wheels which come dressed in brand-new tires.
Inside, the cabin has been fully reupholstered in leather with stitched dashboard and door panels and a custom Olson roll cage. Brand new $3k Italian-made leather seats were installed in addition to Tangerine seatbelts, a Wevo shifter and a fire extinguisher. A new quartz movement was installed in the clock and the seller notes that the radio, air conditioning and blower motor have been deleted. All other gauges and electrical components are stated to be fully functional.
Power comes from a newly rebuilt 2.7 L twin-plug flat-six engine which is mated to a 915 5-speed manual transmission. The engine features upgraded cams, a Carrera chain tensioner update and a front mounted oil cooler as well as upgraded headers and mufflers, a freshly rebuilt valve-train and new PMO carburetors. Other noteworthy upgrades include a 930-steering rack, 930 suspension, 930 brake calipers and cross drilled rotors.
The engine offers a claimed output of up to 270 HP and the seller confirms the car to be in exemplary driving order with barely any miles added since the completion of the build. The provided video details some of the incredible work performed as well as recent maintenance items including a full braking system refresh and wire routing.

@UXB12 as i mentioned a couple of days ago, i have an offer to purchase the the car at my asking price and has just passed the Leak Down test that the prospective new owner paid for. I have not yet received payment to purchase the car.

It is now back at Olsen Motorsports and I just got a verbal this afternoon and it passed the Leak-down with surprisingly impressive results. I am waiting for the buyer to complete the sale.

@Zoghaus 6 ft 3 should not be a problem. I am 5 ft 11 and have the seat about halfway up with plenty of head room even for a helmet if i wanted too. The roll bar is behind the seats and never gets in the way even with the seat all the way back. i do not have pics of the body restoration, but I did have a potential buyer inspect the car yesterday and I think he was impressed by the quality of the paint and finish.
How tall are you? I’m 6’3” and tend to have problems with roll cages. Also, would like to know if you have before pictures of the tub and build?

@JJensen a 1969 911T is a narrow body car. Obviously a set of flared SC quarters were added to your car when it was turned into an RS tribute. There were no rear flares offered from the factory in 1969 for street cars.
In 1970 there was an ST that was either narrow body or flared depending on how it was to be used. These were 911’s built specifically for racing.
The RS flares have a slightly different shape and a much flatter lip. The factory butt welded the flares onto the cars.
@mrm930 This car does not have them. I just checked to be sure and the early tubs as this one did not have them installed from the factory. I see no mounting brackets of any kind or an indication that the sway bars were ever there.
@ERLY911 There must be, The correct Vin# is 119122940. I looked again at the inner fenders. There has been nothing added to widen the Fenders or Quarter panels. I can see the reverse sides of most everything. No metal patches or rust repair patches of any type can be seen or felt. Just smooth, clean sheet metal.

Very cool build. FYI, this tribute is built from a 912 based on the VIN. For 1969, a 911 would have a VIN that starts with 119. A 912 starts with 129. Also, the flares are SC and not RS.

@rhmoritz No heater either. There is a neat self-contained electric compressor A/C unit that fits in the smuggler box that is supposed to be very easily installed and vents below the dash if you wanted to add A/C.
Note A/C, radio and fan switch delete. Does the car retain its heater?

@K-Jax I looked at the area again underneath the dash and have decided to paint it flat black now that the wiring harness has been all cleaned up and out of the way. That will be done for the new owner by the time the auction closes.
@K-Jax the picture taken of the underneath of the dash was to show the neatness of the wiring. i just spent $ 3,000 to rewire and clean up the wiring harness. You do not see the underneath unless you are on your back looking up. The floors are painted black and are in great shape. Most all the carpet is glued down. Also the front trunk department is painted Tangerine and every bit as nice as the engine compartment. All is very neat, very clean.
photo #48 shows the area under the dash in need of paint. Was there a reason not to paint it during restoration? Do the floors look similar under the carpet? Photos of under carpet would be great...

As I write this I understand that some of you will get what I am trying to convey and some might not. For me it is the pursuit of perfection that makes me tick. I can’t compromise in my pursuit. In a project like this I am lucky in that I am not compromised by an availability of funds to allocate to a project. I just seek gratification that the time and money spent was worth It. We all have limited time on this earth and we all Want to leave something that will survive long after we are gone and bring joy to the next owner. I am already contemplating my next project.

@reinyb It is a a beautiful build, I have spent much time and expense to get the car where it is. I believe the Flares are original RS Flares. When you put your hand up inside the wheel wells, you can't feel where anything was welded to the original quarter panel. It is certainly a continuous stamped panel. The roll bar was professionally installed by Olson Motorsports. It is bolted to the sub frame/body structure and has backing plates. I believe most are installed in this manner. I hope this answers your questions.
Beutiful car, I spoke with the original builder Peter when he had it on Pelican 3-4 yesrs ago. I have a few questions if you dont mind.
Are all the fenders metal? Original RS Flares? or SC/Carrera flares?
Is the roll bar attached to frame/ suspension ?
