Up for auction is this 1969 Porsche 911T Targa project car. A lifelong California blue plate car, this 1969 example was recently acquired by the seller from the family of its longtime previous owner. It had been previously refinished in the current shade of Red and retains its 2.0L flat-six engine, 5-speed manual gearbox, brakes, suspension, wheels, and a black leatherette interior with a single driver Sport Seat. This non-running 911T offers the perfect basis for restoration and is now being listed for auction by its seller out of California.
This Targa was previously refinished in the current shade of Red and the seller notes the original factory color to have been Bahama Yellow. The exterior shows notable signs of wear and some areas of corrosion are detailed in the photo gallery. The chrome brightwork shows patina and the glass is reported to have been well preserved throughout the years. This Targa retains factory 14” Fuchs wheels as well as a matching full-size spare located in the trunk.
The highly original black leatherette interior features a single driver Sport Seat as well as an original Blaupunkt radio and period rear surface-mount speakers. The seat requires new upholstery, and the door panels and pockets are said to be in fair condition. The 5-digit odometer currently reads just over 84k miles.
This 911T carries a 2.0L flat-six carbureted engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The seller believes the car to be numbers matching but does not have a Certificate of Authenticity to confirm this. The original suspension and braking systems also remain in place. The engine is reported to turn over by hand, although the car is not in running order at this time.

@tdskip "So given that the engine condition information isn't available despite the seller clearly being able to do it it seems reasonable to assume the engine needs a full rebuild. That, and givenn that the seller does high-end restoration of these cars one has to wonder..."
We were unable to free up the time in the workshop to perform a compression test on the engine. Had we assumed that it would be a critical component to this auction we would have performed it before the listing went live. This car was brought to us by the widow of the former owner and was never intended to be put through our restoration process, but to be sold. This is not a car we purchased for restoration and then decided against restoring, and if we had a buyer wanting a fully restored 69' T, we would have gladly used this as the base car for the project.
What would be the cost to return this car to a driver condition?
