This 1969 Porsche 912 Coupe has been modified and admitted into the highly exclusive R Gruppe club under the seller's ownership and features widened steel fender flares, 996 Turbo brakes, adjustable coilover suspension, a roll cage, bucket seats, and a rebuilt 915 manual transaxle. It derives power from a 3.2-liter flat-six engine featuring 46mm Weber carburetors, stainless steel headers, a Monty performance muffler, and upgraded oil coolers. It was acquired by the owner 10 years ago and has been continually upgraded and maintained including a recent engine overhaul with rebuilt valves and new pistons rings. This outlaw-style flat-six powered 912 is now being offered for auction by its owner out of California.

This 912 wears patinaed white paint with a contrasting black hood stripe and features wide steel fender flares, a 911R-style engine grille and taillights, dual bullet-style mirrors, a dual-exit Monty muffler, a sunroof delete panel, and an RSR-style front bumper with a custom splitter and front-mounted oil cooler. Red Porsche 996 Turbo brake calipers are mounted behind aftermarket 17” black Fuchs-style wheels. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin has been stripped of carpeting and fitted with a full roll cage as well as a pair of aftermarket bucket seats with carbon-pattern inserts and a matching three-spoke steering wheel. Other features include Sabelt safety harnesses, RS-style door panels, a JVC Bluetooth stereo, and a J. West shifter with a wooden gear knob. The seller indicates the clock is not wired.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine which has been upgraded with 46mm Weber carburetors, stainless-steel headers, a front-mounted oil cooler, and a 123Ignition distributor. The rear wheels are driven through a rebuilt 915 5-speed manual transaxle with 930 Turbo half shafts and flanges. The suspension includes Rebel Racing coilovers and adjustable aluminum trailing arms in the rear as well as JRZ front coilovers. The seller indicates an engine overhaul was completed within the last 2k miles including cleaned pistons, new piston rings, and a rebuilt valvetrain. Routine oil changes were also reportedly carried out every 5k miles.

This sale will include a clean title.

    “Highly exclusive R Gruppe” lmao

  • ibmiked (registered bidder) 7 months, 1 weekago

@KCnSF Perhaps you should re-read my comment. My ire was aimed at the quality of car being admitted into RGruppe of late, not the lack of character in this seller. If that bothers you, then I suggest that it’s you that might need to toughen up.

  • mikemOG3 (registered bidder) 7 months, 1 weekago

@KCnSF I think you missed Mike’s point. I believe he was stating that this car is being represented as a “RG” car, which is against club rules.
Let’s move on and let the car sell on its own merits.
    Good luck to the owner.

@ibmiked So an ex-member's action is causing you to resign from a great group of enthusiasts? Pretty extreme take there buddy and if all your opinions are this soft, maybe stepping away is the best move.

I know that the title is listed as clean in the listing description header, but I just wanted to confirm that a clean and clear title comes with the car such that it can be registered and driven on the street in different states. Thanks much.

nice collection of parts, wouldn't change much.

  • ibmiked (registered bidder) 7 months, 1 weekago

This car makes me want to resign from the RGruppe. Talk about jumping the shark.

912 Track Rat trying to leverage an ethos to get sold.
Offensive to all "R" members especially when the seller is an x-member of short duration.

  • mikemOG3 (registered bidder) 7 months, 1 weekago

Not sure about the car or its owner, but “if” the seller is/was a RG member, he is very much aware of how he’s representing his car vs club expectations. Maybe some of his NorCal brothers can coach him forward

This car has a lot of good parts . a used 3.2 engine is 25k these days add the webers at 5k suspension 8k etc
Parts aren’t cheap for these Pcars . know this car well it has a brand new rebuilt transmission at a cost of 6k
I’ve driven with the owner to Monterey from the Bay Area a few times a year it’s fast , light and fun car
Buy with confidence ! long hoods are all getting bought up by the likes of tuthill and other awesome builder
This is a car you can drive the hell out of reliably
