Available for auction is this 1969 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia finished in Toga White over a black interior. Styled in Italy by Carrozzeria Ghia with bodywork hand-built in Germany by Karmann, the Karmann Ghia was offered as Volkswagen’s premier sports car and is regarded among the most beautiful automotive designs of its era.   This 1969 example is said to have been with the same family over the past 7 years after being purchased from its long-term previous owner of 25 years.  Described to be very well preserved and recently serviced, this Karmann Ghia is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida while showing approximately 55k miles on the 5-digit odometer.

The butt-welded, hand-shaped, and smoothed steel body is finished in its originally specified color of Toga White (L 90 C).  The paint is said to have been kept in original condition with only a few minor touch-ups and small dings as depicted in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings. Some noteworthy features include chrome exterior brightwork, chrome front and rear bumpers, pop-out rear quarter windows, and bullet-style front indicator lights. This VW rides on factory 15” slotted wheels featuring chrome hubcaps and Nexen tires showing date codes from 2010.

The cabin is appointed with black vinyl upholstery and wood grain trim across the dashboard.  The black two-spoke steering wheel features a Wolfsburg center emblem and a chrome horn ring. Analog instrumentation includes a fuel gauge, speedometer, and clock.  An ashtray is located beneath the space designated for a radio and a shift-pattern label remains affixed next to the clock.

This Karmann Ghia is powered by a rear-mounted 1600cc flat-four air-cooled engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. This Ghia was recently brought to a vintage car specialist for inspection and service and there are no outstanding maintenance items reported at this time.  Images of the engine bay, undercarriage, and case stampings are provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include a clean title (mileage exempt). Do not miss your chance to own an impeccably well-preserved example of Volkswagen’s iconic Karmann Ghia sports car.

Can you post photos of the battery box area with battery removed? Appears to have had work there given the black paint in the area aft; can you confirm please? Thanks.

They are just slight chips, they do not appears to have been touched up.

  • 1968Charger_ (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

There appears to be small marks under each headlight. Are these chips that were touched up or surface rust or bug residue? Thanks

Wow, nice to see an original paint/ original interior Karmann Ghia! Love the fact that no radio ever installed.. tells me something about the age of the first owner…very nice Ghia…Chuck

Please look at the paint meter pictures. the interior appears to be original as well. We have no reason to doubt the mileage, but if you chose to question the mileage you are most welcome to come an inspect the car

There is no rust , or bubbles in the paint. There is a small piece of surface rust when you open the trunk by the latch, also there is some surface corrosion on the arms that the rear bumper is attach. All could of been corrected, but was decided not to alter of improve anything.

  • artichoke (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

Is it all original or has it been through any restoration? Any idea of how many 100,000's are ahead of the 55,721?

  • 1968Charger_ (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

Can you confirm there is no rust in the body......bubbles in the paint on the rockers or around the headlights.
