The Volkswagen Type 2 has developed a cult following around the world, as it is one of the original modern cargo and passenger vans. This 1969 Type 2 was originally a Brazilian-market example that benefitted from a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment before being imported to the US in August 2023. Finished in brown and red over a burgundy interior, this VW is powered by a replacement air-cooled 1.5-liter flat-four paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This Type 2 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
Finished in brown and red, the van was disassembled and refurbished under previous ownership in Brazil before being repainted in its current colors. Equipment includes color-matched bumpers, bright trim and badging, dual side mirrors, sliding side windows, a single exhaust outlet, and 14″ steel wheels with VW-stamped hubcaps wrapped in BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial whitewall tires, while the front doors feature flip-out vent windows, as well as safari front windows. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the cabin is upholstered in burgundy leather and is equipped with three rows of bench seats, burgundy carpeting, lap seatbelts, a dome light, a passenger grab handle, and an overhead fresh air vent. Additional equipment includes a two-spoke steering wheel, an exterior-color painted metal dashboard, and an EMPI shifter.
Powered by an air-cooled 1.5-liter flat-four mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, the Type 2 features electronic ignition, an oil bath air cleaner, an alternator, and a mechanical fuel pump to feed a single center-mounted carburetor. Additional equipment includes aftermarket front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, and a suspension system that is said to have been overhauled during the refurbishment.
This sale will include photos from the refurbishment, a spare tire, and a clean title.

Thank you
anything else rebuilt starter, exhaust, trani. wheel bearings?
@dicksmith2436 The odometer is in kilometers, not miles. The engine was not replaced, but completely rebuilt. The correct mileage of the van is unknown. The van was driven only a few kilometers after the work was done.
