Available for auction is this 1970 Triumph Tiger T100R Daytona finished in Maroon with a black seat. Named in honor of Buddy Elmore’s win at the 1966 Daytona 200, the Daytona was based on the standard T100 and featured a new cylinder head along with Amal Monoblock carburetors. This 1970 example is said to have undergone a complete restoration including a respray and hybrid front suspension upgrade and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York having covered less than 30 miles since.
This motorcycle was refinished in its original Maroon color with hand-painted striping. Equipment includes a black Triumph two-up seat, a chrome bucket headlight, gauges by Nisonger and center and side kickstands. It rides on a set of Buchanan's wire wheels dressed in Dunlop tires.
Power comes from an air-cooled 490cc overhead valve engine which produced approximately 40 HP when new. Compared with the standard T100, the Daytona received twin Amal Monoblock carburetors as well as a new cylinder head with larger valves. The rear wheel is driven by a 4-speed transmission with chain final drive. The seller reports the motor was rebuilt by a Former House of Triumph mechanic and the front suspension has been upgraded with a hybrid setup.
