This 1970 Ducati 350 Scrambler has been extensively rebuilt and restored by the Jesse Bassett of The GasBox of Ohio, a restoration and customization company known for extremely high-quality vintage builds. Jesse aimed to design this 1970 Ducati 250 Scrambler with more street-oriented design cues along with his personalized touches that would set this Ducati apart from the others. This example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This Scrambler is said to have been refinished in a vintage Aston Martin green, contrasted with cream accents, and maroon pin striping. The chrome pieces have been extensively refurbished, and the headlight housing has been paint-matched along with the front and rear fenders which have been shortened for a more refined look. The rear frame has been modified with the “kicked-up” look changed to a smooth straight line. Period-correct badges are placed to incorporate classic Ducati styling and the tank is borrowed from a 450 Scrambler and customized with a polished fuel-filler cap. A black leather diamond-stitched seat is fitted and the original 18” rear wheel has been replaced with a 19” wheel to match the front. This Scrambler is said to be in excellent condition and detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Power is derived from a 336cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke engine that has been completely rebuilt and features a SOHC and a Dell’Orto carburetor. The square-bore engine revs beyond 8,500 RPM. The seller adds that service in late January of 2023 includes an intake and exhaust valve tappet clearance adjusted, points and timing adjusted, the carburetor cleaned and rebuilt with new gasket, seals, and filter, and the gas tank removed and cleaned with a chemical flush.

This sale will include a clean title.

As we approach the final hours of the auction of this unique and stunning vintage Ducati restoration, I wish to thank all those who have expressed interest and/or have placed bids. It is my hope that it is apparent from the Gasbox article, restoration receipts ( $15,000 plus) that this motorcycle received a stellar restoration that reflected the ideas and attention to detail of the car collector in Maine who commissioned the build. Good luck to all and I will do my best to be available as we approach the finish line.

@Rocky I am told that it is pressed in to accommodate the frame modification that was performed during the restoration at the Gasbox.

  • Rocky (registered bidder) 1 year, 1 monthago

Is that a dent in the rear fender or is it supposed to be pressed in? I'm not familiar with these and couldn't really see the other side of it in any pics to see if symmetrical.

@DrT In all honesty and transparency ,although not as difficult as you described, it does however still require a bit of a workout to start. I recently did a cold start and it took 5-7 kicks to fire up. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Once warm however, it would start with either a single kick or two.

  • DrT (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

@jab7106 We owned a 450 Ducati Jupiter; that's the same model as yours except a 450. Tuned perfectly; point gap perfect, timing spot on, new plug & coil. ...and it was a bear to start. Some days would require 20-30 kicks, some days 3-4. Using the compression release properly didn't help. Very frustrating. How is this one?

  • jab7106 (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

@DrT Yes I believe that is correct. And thank you for your comments. The details of the build were the ideas of a well known car collector in Maine who wanted the bike to be the same color scheme as his 1973 911 outlaw he restored at the same time

  • DrT (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

Gorgeous restoration and the deviations from stock are tasteful. Am I correct that this is not a Desmo? Thanks.
