Based upon the Fiat 500/600 compact city cars and modified by Ghia, the Jolly was originally created to suit the transportation needs of yacht owners and wealthy seaside communities.  This 1970 Fiat 500 F Berlina was converted to a Jolly more recently and came into the current owner’s possession earlier in 2021.  It had been completely disassembled, structurally modified, refinished, and equipped with a rebuilt 650cc engine and 4-speed synchronized gearbox. Having traveled less than 100 miles since, this Fiat Jolly tribute is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Italy.

The car was completely stripped during the conversion while the top portion was cut away followed by structural reinforcements to the cockpit.  The car was refinished in the current shade of yellow and fitted with a fringed canopy along with chrome railings, a rear luggage rack, Ghia badges, and Jolly logos.  The 12” steel wheels are painted to match the exterior and come fitted with chrome hubcaps and new Radar whitewall tires.

The painted cockpit is lined with black rubber mats and comes fitted with classic wicker seats along with a matching rear bench, storage tray, grab handle, and two-spoke steering wheel.  Other equipment includes a driver-side mirror, ashtray, Veglia speedometer, and lap belts.

Derived from a Fiat 126, the air-cooled two-cylinder engine was rebuilt and upgraded to a 650cc displacement including new pistons, cylinders, spark plugs, and a new timing chain.  The rear wheels are driven through a synchronized 4-speed manual gearbox.  Other items replaced during the restoration included the shock absorbers, brake pump, and front suspension arms.  Images of the undercarriage can be found in the gallery.

This sale will include a clean title.

We ship cup cars from Europe all the time; those figures are pretty close, timing has been improving

  • Jolly.cars (seller) 2 yearsago

@BarryLe The cost of shipping is around this figure. Like other taxes, you pay about $ 400 for customs clearance and 2.5% of the purchase price of the machine. The car as a speed can reach 100/120 km / h, since the engine has been boosted to 650cc. The car is stable enough to travel on the motorway and I have also installed seat belts.

Manninos_cars: Thank you very much for your reply. I will give your proposal some thought. I really don’t have the time to travel to Sicily but I have never been there and I would certainly like to visit there one day. Your proposal is very generous and attractive. Are you confident that the shipping will not exceed $10,000.00? Will I have to pay duty and other fees to get the vehicle to Massachusetts? One last question. How fast can this Jolly go? Is it safe enough to drive in a highway? Thanks.

  • Jolly.cars (seller) 2 yearsago

@BarryLe What I can tell you is that if you win the auction I will host you here in Sicily to view the car in person and refund your plane ticket. This applies to all possible buyers, if they win the Jolly, before paying for the car. Furthermore, the shipment takes place via container (closed) and the shipping price is around 10 thousand dollars.

Manninos_cars: Not being able to send someone to see the car is a concern as well as wiring the money to someone in Italy that I have never met is very concerning. Can you tell me how you would send the car to Massachusetts and what it would cost?

  • Jolly.cars (seller) 2 yearsago

@BarryLe Thank you for the compliments for the car. I appreciate your sincerity in what you say. If I may I would like to ask you what is your concern? I would be happy to help you with anything.

Manninos_cars: I would love to have this Jolly Tribute for my summer home in Massachusetts. I don’t feel confident enough to bid with the vehicle in Italy. Sorry. You have done a beautiful job with the restoration/ conversion.
