An uncompromising custom build, this 1970 Porsche 911 was commissioned to Orbit Racing for a complete RSR/outlaw-style restoration upon the seller’s acquisition. It features a rebuilt 3.0-liter 911SC engine, a Tarett Engineering swaybar, PMO carburetors, Bilstein shocks, an Elephant Racing suspension, steel RSR-style front bumper and fender flares, a Kevlar fiber rear ducktail, and more. Presented in Nardo Grey over a bespoke tartan cloth and black leather interior, this fully documented RSR-style 911 is now being offered for auction showing under 400 miles on the odometer since completion.
This 911 has been completely refinished in the modern Audi color of Nardo Grey and features a monochromatic look with black trim pieces. Details include modern projector-style headlights, RSR-style bumpers, welded steel fender flares, a center-fill hood, a bullet-style mirror, and a fiberglass-Kevlar rear ducktail. Additionally, a set of Magnus Walker Fifteen52 wheels come dressed in Michelin tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a collection of photos throughout the restoration.
The black leather interior has been tastefully customized with grey/red tartan cloth inserts which span the seat centers, door trim, and dashboard. Red piping can be found along the dashboard and steering wheel along with matching seatbelts. Upgraded equipment includes a custom shifter and ball, an Abarth steering wheel, aluminum window cranks, an improved air conditioning unit, and a Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) head unit.
Power comes from a 3.0 911SC motor that was completely rebuilt by Orbit Racing with a reported output of 250 HP. It features PMO carburetors and is paired with a 5-speed 915 manual gearbox. Performance-oriented upgrades include an Elephant Racing suspension, a Tarett swaybar, a Stage 2 magnesium oil pump, and Bilstein shocks. The seller adds the initial break-in oil change has been performed and a dyno test has been carried out. Extensive documentation and invoice records are provided in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title and extensive documentation.

As amazing as this car is i can’t get over the fact it doesn’t appear to have sport seats.. Am i right in that observation?
As a person who loves to really drive these classic cars i would give half of the other upgrades for a pair of genuine vintage Recaros!

@sportscarguy3 How would a pre-1976 car "pass smog" in CA when they don't even have regulations set for any car prior to 1976? What levels of Hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide , and Nitric Oxide would they be testing against to see if it passes or fails?
The CA BAR lists the MAX (fail) rates of tailpipe emissions on it's website, go try to find the correct emissions levels for a 1970 911. It would seem that the person you spoke to at the DMV is mistaken and doesn't understand smog rules.

@sportscarguy3 You are 100% wrong. Any car model year 1975 and before does NOT require a smog certificate or smog test in California to register, no matter it's origin.
Seller, and all others concerned or interested
I just got off the phone with California, DMV and regardless of the year of the car any vehicle that is transferred from another state into California will require a smog check for registration
Apparently, if it had been a California car, it’s entire life and had previous registration in California, and then was modified. It may not require smog.
However, that’s not the case with this vehicle I gave them the Vin and there’s no record of this car in California
The bottom line is, it will have to have a smog inspection and test
And I have no idea whether it would pass or not
However, if it did not pass, the owner would be in a situation where he would have to spend whatever money was required to modify it, so it would pass
And finally, we are approaching what I would consider my budget with four hours still to go, so I am probably, and I expected as much, going to be priced out of this good looking Porsche
However, good luck all and I will keep dreaming

Yeah I’m comparing it to my 996s. May e your car is like a race car , a couple of hours and is tus time to rest. Still extremely cool build.
@luis.seneriz from a mechanical and drivability stance you have no issues. Seat comfort is good, air conditioning, nice audio system and good suspension. Not sure what other P cars you have but if you have a hard time in a 993????
I really like this car. I’m concerned about how comfortable the car maybe for me. One of my good friends has a 993 and I can’t take any more than three hours driving in his car. I’m 511, 260. Also you are almost 1200 miles from me. Any concerns about driving this car as it stands now for that many miles. Both of my p cars I flew there and drove home non stop, one 1300 miles the other 1698 miles. Thanks Luis in Texas.

@Garden38 I added a photo of the notes to the library. it may take a minute to load. Roger at orbit sent me the following...95mm pistons 9.5:1, Pauter connecting rods, 3.0 liter crank 70.4 mm stroke, Web cam .470/280 intake .440/262 exhaust, super Tec head studs, Clevite 77 rod bearings-coated, valve springs 240lb nose pressure, SSI headers, Dansk sport muffler
1975 is the cut-off model year for smog requirements in the state of California.
Smog inspections are required when you register or renew registration for a vehicle in California, but there are some exceptions. Your vehicle does not need a smog inspection if your: Gasoline-powered vehicle is a 1975 year model or older (This includes motorcycles and trailers.)
@sportscarguy3 No worries, happy to answer since it seems to be a very common question. If you would not mind chiming in after you get the answer from the California DMV, that would be much appreciated. Since this is a true 1970 car, it is my understanding that it can be registered w/o smog
@spumoni63 I appreciate your prompt reply to my inquiry about California smog
Apparently, there were others that asked a similar question. My apologies for not seeing your answer to them before my question fired off.
If I understand correctly, you’re suggesting that it’s the actual year of the car, which puts it outside of the requirements for California smog so the car apparently does not even need to be smog tested to register with DMV
If that is the case, which I will check on after 8 AM here in California when DMV office is open and customer service phone support is available, that would be great
Good luck all
@Dirtygrid Based on the information I received from a few of our clients in California. A classic car can be registered in California without requiring a smog inspection. It makes sense since California has been the state with the most influential classic car culture.
Is that a factory muffler that you capped and added the twin center pipes?
Does that mean the car can 100% be registered in CA?
@sportscarguy3 smog not required in CA for 1975 & older
@Cpersico27 Thank you for the confirmation on the Ca. smog inquiry.
@Kirk70outlaw Correct 1975 and older cars do not require smog in CA
In the restoration docs there are a handful of photos that show the flares being welded and the fenders being worked
The front and rear flares along with the hood are steel.
I assume the front fenders and hood are glass?

As the owner I want to thank everyone for their bids and comments. This custom build was completely built using an original 1970 911T so this is a long hood car and not a backdate build. I’m not sure I if the fact it’s a 1970 car exempts it from Ca. smog since it’s older than a 1975 . I’m not sure if other parameters factor into the smog requirements or if the age alone exempts it.
@Torque1 Were you able to get the complete specs on the engine?
@sportscarguy3 Thank you, Not sure about California smog. I can ask however I'm not sure there is a surefire way of knowing from Fla
Bid in the amount of $85,911
Love that ducktail. Beautiful car. I have a ducktail on my 99, and I’m seriously considering putting a ducktail on my 03 turbo. This car would be perfect with a 3.8. Anyway I like it a ton, this is my birthday month and I bought my turbo here last year, maybe I’ll get this one.
That’s the style of Porsche that I’m interested in
Being very fortunate to on several different kind of Porsches., over 30 year. This is what I’m looking for now the backdated older style models.
Super clean, especially the exterior, unfortunately, I’m not a fan of the cloth interior inserts on any Porsche.
Certainly a good looker wondering if it would pass California smog emissions, as is

For you all. @Kirk70outlaw is the owner we represent him. We also finished that tedious final 2%. Either one of us will respond to your inquiries
@buddyhobbs I will make a video of the car and I’ll put a the in the vent to show how nicely it cools. It is currently hot here in Florida so I’ll leave the car outside for a hour before recording. This unit is similar to units of later 964/993. The cooling is much improved with that compressor
@buddyhobbs The new Kreuhl A/C unit works. The entire A/C system is new and the dash was hand fabricated to accommodate a center vent.
Does the AC work?
Incredible build.!! Looked at all 400+ photo's, just perfection.

Hello all, Videos have been uploaded, will be taking under body pics this afternoon. Installed the slanted 911 nomenclature in smoked chrome. also added license plate bracket
@Paulblouin under carriage photos coming.
Need under carriage photos for sure
wow this is very nice! very similar to the Ghost IROC build i just bought from pcar market a month or 2 ago.

Beautiful build, Orbit! Wish I were in the market for another - this one is a winner!
@t0ch I will get those videos going and post shortly
Any chance you'll be posting a walk-around and driving video?

@Garden38 dyno was prior to new carburetor accelerator pump cams and new fuel pump. Engine built by Orbit with Rothsport 911 s Forged Pistons, ring, pins, & coated skirts. rod bearing set from EBS racing, High lift valve springs and seals from MJ Performance. I will confirm cam, crank and other specs and reply
Other than adding carbs to the engine at the time of build what else has been done to get 250HP from the engine? The dyno sheet says about 190HP
@Revemup1 The Center console with the a/c controls came from a 930, speedo was done by North Hollywood Speedometer
@hudd07 I feel the other way. I really enjoy and appreciate the Work In Progress pics and receipts. They show the depth and thoughtfulness and precision with which the work was undertaken. I’d rather pore over those than just super finished product pics, which, in my experience can be good at being able to “hide” or “gloss” over any deficiencies. The WIP pics help dispel any reservations one might have as a virtual/remote bidder. All that is to say, all good, and this presents as an awesome example! ??
What are the origins of the dash and center console?
I’m a little disappointed that such a gorgeous car has less than 30 FINISHED photos posted out of 430. Drool worthy car.
