Now available for auction is this 1970 Porsche 911T Targa. Over the past 5 years and at a reported cost of over $60k, this Targa was stripped to bare metal and restored in Slate Grey over a custom black and tan interior.  The engine was fully rebuilt and upgraded, and custom styling features were added along with a fully adjustable Elephant Racing suspension.  With all work said to have been carried out to a very high standard, this 911T has been driven sparingly ever since the restoration and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois accompanied by records and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Under prior ownership within the past 5 years, this 911 is said to have been stripped down to bare metal before being completely refinished in the classic Porsche color of Slate Grey.  The original color of the car was Bahia Red as per the Porsche COA.  Customizations include 911R-style steel rear fender flares, a 911S-style front air dam, additional front fog lights, de-trimmed bumpers, and a custom oval-cut acrylic glass decklid grille (original grille included in sale).  The Stoddard Maxlite Fuchs-style wheels feature ceramic-coated lips, Rennline lugs and spacers, and new Pirelli tires.

Inside, the cabin has been completely redone with grey square weave carpeting, new custom door cards, and new reproduction Recaro sport seats.  Other refurbishments include a new OEM dashboard pad, new OEM armrests, a new turn signal cluster, and a rebuilt Targa top.  Additional customizations include a wooden shift knob, Carbone floormats, a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, and a new period-style Bluetooth radio and speakers.  The original steering wheel is included in the sale and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional. The 5-digit odometer currently reads approximately 24k miles, the true mileage remains unknown.

The correct-type air-cooled 2.2 L flat-six engine was removed and rebuilt in May of 2020 at a cost of approximately $15k. During this time, the heads were ported and polished and an electronic ignition system was installed along with Zenith carburetors, “E” grind cams, stainless steel headers, and a Dansk Outlaw muffler.  New batteries were also installed along with a new fuel regulator.  Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 915 5-speed manual gearbox.  A fully adjustable Elephant Racing suspension was also installed at a cost of $14k.  Records are said to be included detailing much of the mechanical work as well as standard routine maintenance.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the original decklid grille, steering wheel, and a clean title.  Custom restored to a beautiful specification and upgraded with some considerable performance parts, this 911T Targa is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.

@Pjohar Thanks for the question, Not entirely sure about California's registration requirements but I would speculate it's old enough to be exempt.

Overall a nice looking car, tasteful mods. I would very much like to own this car AC or not. However, the interior, specifically the lower dash trim - control area - and instrument cluster shows very poorly imo. Not a major issue; some of the already included aftermarket vendors have solutions. Only pointing this area out bc I can't figure why some owners go '3/4 of the way in' - do most of the major restoration like here yet, while the car is idle they end up shoe-polishing over things that are not significant in costs - yet become a major PITA to go back and rectify. Otherwise the car looks mint. ...Wait! ...Can I hear it? -- Left purposely 'as is' in the name of patina you say?
