1970 marked the first model year in which the Porsche 911s engine displacement was increased for performance, featuring a new 2.2-liter flat-six with Bosch mechanical fuel injection for the 911E and 911S models. One of 667 Karmann Coupes produced for the model year, this 1970 911E came factory-finished in the sought-after color of Albert Blue over a beige interior. Benefitting from well over $100k invested in service and restoration over the years, this stunning numbers matching 911E is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois.

This Coupe was professionally refinished in its original shade of Albert Blue, a historic paint color offered on the 911 from 1970-1972 and now part of Porsche's exclusive Paint to Sample catalog. Equipment includes chrome bumperettes and aluminum rockers with rubber overriders, a driver's side mirror, gold rear badging, and polished 15” Fuchs wheels dressed in a set of Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

The cabin has been completely redone with new beige leather upholstery and matching carpets, door panels, and Coco floor mats. The factory Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio remains in place and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly. The 5-digit odometer currently reads 15,749 miles, although the seller states it has rolled over once and the true mileage is 115,749.

Once regarded as "the secret weapon from Zuffenhausen", the new 2.2-liter flat-six engine for the 911E offered Bosch mechanical fuel injection and an output of up to 155 HP. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual gearbox while stopping power comes from ventilated disc brakes and light alloy front calipers. This example features an upgraded electronic trigger in place of ignition points and is said to remain otherwise unmodified. A vast collection of invoices and records accompanies the sale, dating back over 33 years.

This sale will include a clean title.

@Danielvb71 Yes. There are pictures of the COA and the matching number on the engine block. They are posted already. The rear window decal can be added. It must’ve just been an oversight. As for the dashboard, I just addressed that below. Unless your question is about something else other than the speaker grill. Then you’ll need to be more specific. If you are interested and bid on it, I promise that I will add the 2.2 sticker and even replace the dashboard with one that has the speaker grill. So bid with confidence! This car is fantastic and won’t disappoint.

  • Danielvb71 (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Perfpow Any photos of matching numbers ? Was the decal of 2.2 removed from the back window? What’s going on with incorrect dash?

  • Perfpow (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@jk356 Good call! I hadn’t even noticed and I’m not sure that the owner did. There is just the one speaker under the dash and it does still work but you are correct.

It’s come to my attention that a few people have been confused by some of the wording in the description of the car. The following is a general description of the 1970 model year when it states, “Once regarded as "the secret weapon from Zuffenhausen", the new 2.2-liter flat-six engine for the 911E offered Bosch mechanical fuel injection and an output of up to 155 HP. “ The reference to the new engine was a reference to the 2.2 L engines being introduced that year!
So let me make it clear that this car HAS the matching numbers, engine and transmission!

@Perfpow thank you. It is a gorgeous car.

  • Perfpow (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Carpair Although my shop did not do the engine rebuild, I understand that it is a 2.2 911 E with factory camshafts, pistons and mechanical fuel injection all functioning perfectly and yes, if you look at the pictures you can see the external oil lines for the Carrera chain tensioner feeds.

  • Carpair (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Perfpow do you know the specs for the engine build? Did they upgrade the chain tensioners?

@Perfpow It is Mark and I had a BUNCH of White 356 cars. I sold this car at an auction for a fraction of what I thought it would go for. I'm scared to say just how good this car is because it will ruin my chances of buying it back ............so.......NOTHING to see here. Everyone go away......

  • Perfpow (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@DriverM If this is Mark, did I buy a white 356SC from you a while back?!

  • Perfpow (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago
