It is our pleasure to offer this 1970 Porsche 914-6. This 1970 example was delivered new through Jones Porsche of Massachusetts and was sold to its original owner in Vermont. Throughout the years, the car was refinished in the current shade of Silver Metallic and equipped with an upgraded 2.0L 911E-spec engine. It was eventually sold to the second owner in 1992 who maintained the car up until 2020 when it was acquired by the selling dealer. Having since undergone full service of the engine and transmission as well as a host of cosmetic refurbishment, this 914-6 is now being offered for auction by European Collectibles out of California accompanied by the original owner's manuals, maintenance record book, and a Porsche certificate of production.
This 914 has been refinished in Silver Metallic and sports a removable black Targa top, black vinyl sail panels, and factory optioned front fog lights. The certificate of production shows the original color to have been Adriatic Blue. The seller describes this 914 as having very good panel fitment and minimal cosmetic imperfections throughout the exterior. The chrome brightwork is also said to be in good condition and all of the original glass is said to have been retained apart from the replacement of the front windshield. Refurbishment carried out in preparation for sale includes the removal and replacement of the right front floor section, installation of new Targa bar vinyl and molding, replacement front and rear valences, fog lamp grilles, and rocker panels. Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with corresponding invoices. The forged 15” Fuchs wheels come dressed in a set of 195/60 R15 Hankook Kinergy GT tires showing date codes from 2016.
Inside, you will find a black leatherette interior with basketweave pattern inserts. Factory specified options include a tinted windshield, leather-covered steering wheel, and a center seat cushion. The seller notes that the interior presents well, showing a crack-free dashboard, clean carpets, and only a small tear in the vinyl of the center seat cushion. A period Blaupunkt radio is equipped and the suite of VDO instrumentation is said to have been detailed in preparation for sale. All gauges, lights, and accessories are also reported to be working properly.
Power comes from an air-cooled 2.0L flat-six engine which is said to have been rebuilt under previous ownership and upgraded to factory 911E specifications. The 5-speed manual dogleg transmission was also reportedly rebuilt to factory specs with new bearings and synchros. A full engine and transmission service have been carried out by the selling dealer along with the installation of new fuel lines and detailing of the undercarriage. Invoices are provided for reference in the photo gallery.
This sale will include the original owner's manuals, maintenance record book, recent refurbishment invoices, and a Porsche certificate of production. This is a factory 914/6 see the CoA in the photos gallery.
The VIN number stamped in the passenger fender, ID tag in the truck, and VIN tag in the window pillar all match the CoA and the title.

Yes, the “hell hole” looks very good and some point there has been some metal replacement done. i also have good photos from underneith.
Sorry to hear this 914-6 is out of your budget. I project 914-6 that needs compete restoration at $30,000 makes no sense, in the long run you will spend even more money.
The “hell hole” looks very good. Looks like someone went back and replaced metal there, which is the best way to fix any rusty metal. I’ve had four 914’s including two ‘sixes’ and they are wonderful cars with sublime handling. Sadly, even at its current low price, it is out of my price range. I need more of a fixer upper.

No, it is not the original engine.
There is no engine number on the stamp pad.
According to the seller back in 1992, the engine was rebuilt to 911 E specs. I can scan that paperwork if you would like. We also have a very light old photo copy of the original window sticker.
Is it the original engine modified to 911 E specs or is it a 911E engine?

True Miles are unknown. The 914-6 has not been driven much at all over the past 29 years, but I would assume it has rolled over.

No, this is a replacement engine case with no engine number on the stamp pad.
