The Porsche 911 was updated for the 1970 model year featuring a new 2.2-liter flat-six engine. The range-topping 911S model offered a fuel-injected version producing 180 HP along with Fuchs light alloy wheels and larger brakes than the entry-level 911T. This 1971 example is a 911S Coupe finished in Bahia Red over a Black interior. It came factory-equipped with optional Sport Seats, a Becker Europa II radio, and a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car was formerly part of a well-known East Coast collection and another private collection before being acquired by the current owner in 2019. It was subsequently treated to major cosmetic and mechanical restoration at a cost of nearly $60k including new paint and a rebuild of its original numbers-matching engine. Supported by extensive documentation and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this 911S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of North Carolina.
The 911S featured a lightweight aluminum rear decklid for the 1971 model year and is distinguishable from an entry-level 911T by its aluminum rocker panel moldings, rubber bumper over-riders, and anodized gold rear badging. This Coupe is said to have been completely refinished in its original color of Bahia Red by Forge Speed in 2022 along with restoration of the brightwork at a cost of over $41k. The car comes equipped with chrome door handles, headlight rings, and window moldings, front fog lights, a polished driver’s side mirror, pop-out rear quarter windows, and 15” Fuchs light alloy wheels. The seller adds that the paintwork was carried out to a very high standard and the car remains in excellent overall condition. The Black interior has been redone and features a pair of factory-optioned Recaro Sport Seats with cloth inserts. Other accessories include Coco floor mats, a four-spoke black leather steering wheel, aluminum door sill covers, power windows, a heater, a Becker Europa II radio, and a locking glovebox with a “911S” badge. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
This 911S carries its original fuel-injected 2.2-liter flat-six engine rated at 180 HP and 147 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle and stopping power is provided by ventilated disc brakes measuring 11.1” in front and 11.4” in the rear. The seller indicates the engine was rebuilt by a reputable Porsche restorationist at a cost of over $18k at 73,911 miles. Additional service records are available showing about $35k invested in maintenance from 2013 up until the seller’s acquisition in 2019.
This sale will include the original toolkit, first aid kit, and owner's manuals along with a clean title and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

@911charles Hello. Thank you for your comments. There was no rust on the chassis prior to restoration. I do have all invoices for work completed recently as well as since 2013. It does not have new pistons or rings. I do not have records of the transmission rebuilt. The engine and transaxle were separated to take care of multiple leaks in 2021. It still has minor seepage of oil. Thanks again.

The mileage is original to the best of our knowledge, but we also believe this to be true based on the car’s overall condition prior to restoration and it was very well maintained throughout its life.

Hello everyone! We have uploaded more pictures of the car during the paint restoration. In addition pictures of the car prior to restoration. The car was actually quite nice before restoration and was a very high end driver, but the owner wanted to take up a few notches and the result is the stunning car you see here. There was no rust prior to restoration.
Furthermore, we also posted pictures of all the invoices we have of recent work completed and work completed since 2013 totaling close to $95,000. Lastly of course, we mistakenly forgot to post the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming this car is numbers matching, original engine and the original color. Thank you all and good luck.
