This 1971 Porsche 911T is said to have been transformed into a 959-style cabriolet by its previous owner, a retired aerospace engineer, between 2003 and 2004. It features custom fiberglass bodywork and derives power from a 2.7-liter air-cooled engine that was rebuilt by Motor Meister and paired with a 5-speed 901 racing transmission. It has also been refurbished with new parts including a new blower motor, carpets, an MSD ignition module, a 60-amp alternator, an OEM clutch & flywheel, SSI stainless-steel heat exchangers, new suspension bushings, Magnaflow mufflers, brake calipers, stainless-steel brake lines, an air conditioning system, and a MOMO steering wheel. Said to have been driven approximately 8k miles since the engine rebuild, this one-of-a-kind 959 tribute is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Missouri accompanied by $23k in invoices.

This 911T was converted into a Cabriolet and fitted with custom fiberglass 959-style bodywork including a hood, bumpers, fenders, and a rear spoiler. It has been finished in Guards Red and features a black convertible top and matching tonneau cover. Other equipment includes European-style side marker lights, side air intakes, dual exhaust outlets, Aero mirrors, and rare 16” Compomotive two-piece racing wheels. The car rides on BF Goodrich g-Force Sport tires in front and Goodyear Eagle GT tires in the rear. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, you will find a black interior with a body-colored dashboard and later-model power seats. Accessories include a four-spoke MOMO steering wheel, power windows, VDO gauges, a sound system, and an aftermarket JVC stereo. The seller indicates the cabin has been refurbished with new carpeting, embroidered floor mats, a new blower motor, and a new under-dash air conditioning system. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Power comes from a dual-carbureted 2.7-liter flat-six engine that was rebuilt by Motor Meister. The rear wheels are driven by way of a manual 5-speed 901 racing transmission. New parts are said to include an MSD ignition module, a 60-amp alternator, a new fuel pump, stainless-steel SSI heat exchangers, suspension bushings, dual Magnaflow mufflers, brake calipers, brake pads & rotors, a new brake master cylinder, stainless-steel brake lines, and a new OEM clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and flywheel. Corresponding maintenance records are said to accompany the sale.

This sale will include a collection of documentation and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This one-of-a-kind Porsche was done by a retired Aero Space Engineer in approx. 2003-2004. The engine was rebuilt by Motor Meister for $7,500.00. There are approximately 8,000 miles on the motor and build since restoration. We have receipts in hand for $23,000.00 which does not include the bodywork conversion or paintwork. Also, with added air conditioning.”

Does this car overheat? You can see the gauge near the end of your driving video. It appears you started driving when the car was very cold and just before the video cuts, the temp shoots way up. Do you have any driving video of the gauge steadily at operating temp?

  • motoexotica (seller) 4 months, 1 weekago

@Richard356 Thank you for asking. Yes, there is a spare tire in the well 185/60r15 (we will try and upload a photo for review), however NO tools, tool pouch or jack. CarFax is only available for cars manufactured after 1981 when VIN's were standardized to 17 digits.

It looks like or very similar to what Exotic Dream Machines used to fabricate and sell as kits. I built a version of this back in 1988 as a kid with a speedster chopped down windshield. There were several fabricators using a variation of the molds.
Here is something I found on them from the way back catalog. See pictures 7 to 8.

  • motoexotica (seller) 4 months, 1 weekago

@Vince993s Thank you for asking. As far as we know, it is a one off fabrication. We have not seen the Kit available anywhere else.

  • Vince993s 4 months, 2 weeksago

Who or how were the body parts fabricated from? Is this a one-off or an available kit?
