This 1971 Porsche 914 2.0 was purchased by the seller in 2005 and refurbished over the next three years including a full repaint in its original color of Signal Orange. The 5-speed manual transmission was rebuilt with custom gearing and paired with a rebuilt 2.0-liter flat-four engine featuring a #73 Web cam, a Crane ignition HI-6 CD unit, a Pertronix ignition module, Weber 40 IDF carburetors, steel velocity stacks, an additional oil cooler, SSI heat exchangers, and a Dansk single-outlet muffler. The pedal box was rebuilt, the black vinyl seats were reupholstered modified for lateral support, and new German square weave carpeting was installed along with a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel and a Kenwood stereo. The car was also upgraded with a reinforced clutch cable tube, stainless/Teflon brake hoses, a hollow 21mm front torsion bar, a 19mm front anti-roll bar, Turbo tie rods, and Bilstein rear shocks with heavy-duty springs. Maintained by the current owner for nearly 20 years, this refurbished and upgraded 914 2.0 is now being offered for auction out of Arizona.
In 2007, this 914 was refinished in its original color of Signal Orange (L20E). The sail panels and roll bar were covered with new vinyl upholstery and the Targa top rubber seals were replaced. Equipment includes pop-up headlights, chrome bumpers, a fender-mounted antenna, a driver’s side mirror, and factory 15” 4-bolt Fuchs forged alloy wheels dressed in Yokohama S drive 205/50R15 tires dated 16/16. The seller notes the car has been garage-kept and is rust-free. Some paint imperfections are present on the right rear quarter panel above the wheel well and on the rear decklid. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the bucket seats have been modified for lateral support and reupholstered in black vinyl with cloth center inserts. New charcoal German square weave carpeting has been installed and the rear firewall was insulated and covered with a Perlon pad. Modifications include a dashboard mat, custom shoulder harness bars, 5-point safety harnesses, a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, and a Kenwood CD player with a USB port, microphone, and new speakers. The VDO odometer was repaired in 2024, and the true mileage is unknown. The seller notes a crack is present on the dashboard above the ashtray.
Power comes from a rebuilt 2.0-liter flat-four engine with Weber 40 IDF carburetors, steel velocity stacks, K&N air cleaners, a #73 Web cam, Crane Ignition HI-6 CD, an LC 92 ignition coil, a Pertronix ignition module, an additional oil cooler, SSI heat exchangers, and a Dansk muffler. The fuel pump was relocated to the front using a later-model bulkhead mount. The 5-speed manual transaxle was rebuilt with custom gearing, an aluminum intermediate plate, and a side-shift conversion with new bushings. The clutch tube was also reinforced and welded in place. The suspension has been upgraded with a hollow 21mm front torsion bar, 19mm front anti-roll bar, Turbo tie rods, and Bilstein rear shocks with heavy-duty springs. The brakes have also been refurbished with rebuilt calipers and stainless/Teflon hoses. A new battery was installed in August 2023, and a recent 2024 cylinder leak-down test shows between 4% and 5% across all cylinders.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

Any chance you have the original seats?
Did new seats mount to original tracks?? Or has the floor been modified to fit ??

pvrose,
upon closer inspection I found some dirt as rear trunk was not cleaned prior to pictures. Yes there is some surface rust near the low point of trunk by the right taillight but no perforation
Bruce914,
The engine case is from a 1976 914 2.0
raharg0,
You are correct.. the original 50 year old seat belts are long gone.
Bruce914,
The 2.0 engine #GC001930 is .9
Bid in the amount of $3,914
I’m assuming the OEM seatbelts are long gone? I’m curious the best way to drive this safely as a daily driver.
Kevinmr,
3 1/2 hours to the Showlow AZ has been longest drive. This car has had mostly city driving and a handful of autocrosses. Fuel guage is accurate, so no worries there.
Sorry, meant to add to below...I have a 90 minute drive to a golf course through great driving territory (Sonoma/Napa) and would be nice to have a fun car for the drive. Memories of my LL baseball coach in late-70s having a 914 with his golf clubs in the back next to all the baseball equipment.
@seller what is the longest drive you've taken with this? Does fuel gauge work reliably....that is the perpetual problem a buddy has with his '72...he has to do math on long drives to know when to fill up.
Great presentation and GLWS.

Mwiggens,
Sorry, the reserve is proprietary information.
Mwiggens62,
It is a tough time of year to be driving to Conneticut. Not sure if you had question about reserve.
Wolf and Mare,
I am 5'11" tall
Nice 914! Curious: How tall is the driver in the videos?
Bid in the amount of $1,971
pvrose,
I will take a closer look and get back with you regarding the rear trunk floor
Bruce914,
This is a 2.0 engine block. If you want the engine #, I can provide.
pvrose,
There is no perforation of rear trunk floor. It is very common for rear trunk seals to leak, hence the uneven paint.
CLT (cylinder leak test) figures of 4-5%
shows good compression
Bid in the amount of $914
Good looking car. Did the engine start as a 1.7 or is it a 2.0 block?
Love the car. You obviously have put a lot of thoughtful time into this build. Couple of questions….
Is the passenger side corrosion in the trunk surface only?
Do you have any compression numbers?
Thanks.
Hi and thanks for looking. This Arizona car is rust and crash free as evidenced in the gallery. I have intimate knowledge of this car and am willing to answer all questions. I have 40+ years as a dedicated Porsche mechanic so what I have learned has gone into this build. No need for a trailer, you can drive this one home.
