The Jaguar E-Type Series III debuted in 1971, offering a massive 5.3-liter V12 engine, quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, power steering, and an improved braking system. This 1972 2+2 example was initially delivered to British Leyland Motorcars, New York, and features a 4-speed manual transmission along with a Pale Primrose Yellow finish over black leather upholstery. Benefitting from several maintenance items, a custom stainless steel exhaust, and a custom cooling fan, this Coupe is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Colorado with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.
The Series III featured a longer wheelbase than its predecessor and can be identified by its enlarged cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, quad-exit exhaust, and V12 badging. This example comes finished in Pale Primrose Yellow, and equipment includes front mud flaps, pop-out rear quarter windows, chrome-finished bumpers with overriders, polished stainless steel exhaust outlets, and 15” knock-off wire wheels dressed in Sumitomo HTR A/S P02 tires. The seller notes the hood was refinished in 2021 following the removal of dents. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin presents black leather upholstery along the front bucket seats and rear bench, as well as a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes Smith's instrumentation, a leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, roll-up windows, a center armrest, a locking glovebox, and a heater. The seller states the air conditioner is currently inoperable, although all other gauges and accessories are working properly.
The 5.3-liter V12 features Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, sending as much as 314 HP and 349 lb.-ft of torque stock to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Power steering, Wilwood front disc brakes, and inboard-mounted rear discs were equipped as standard. Additional equipment includes powder-coated valve covers, intake manifolds, and air trumpets along with a custom cooling fan with manual switches, an aluminum radiator, an SNG Barratt ignition system, a high-torque starter, and an 80-amp alternator. A custom exhaust system has also been fitted, including Bell stainless steel downpipes and custom stainless-steel powder-coated mufflers. The seller adds that service under prior ownership included rebuilding the carburetors, replacing fuel lines, bowl plugs, K&N air filters, battery, spark plugs, fan switches, engine mounts, thermostats, fuel level sender, belts, fluids, master and servo cylinders, and rear caliper bleeder, and installing braided stainless flex lines. The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate displays the engine, gearbox, chassis, and body numbers, as provided in the gallery.

One of my favorite versions and colors (although black interiors not so much)....and I will note that I am also odd that I am very much looking for my next one to be an automatic (so my wife can actual it too).

Great car and great driving video. I have a 74 ots 4 speed. 72 is a great year with pre-usdot bumper over riders. Are you going to be posting any underside and trunk pictures?
