Intended as a lightweight 911 Carrera RS tribute, this 1972 Porsche 911T Coupe was created by a builder in Southern California between 2009 and 2012.  The car comes finished in Grand Prix White and features metal fender flares, a custom leatherette-wrapped roll cage, upgraded Carrera brakes, three-piece HRE Fuchs wheels, Elephant Racing suspension, and a rebuilt 3.2-liter fuel-injected engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.  Meticulously maintained by its owner including a thorough recent inspection in preparation for sale, this 911 Carrera RS tribute is now being offered for auction out of Colorado.

During its restoration, this 911T was fitted with metal fender flares as well as fiberglass RS-style bumpers, a lightweight fiberglass hood, and Ducktail rear decklid. The car was refinished in the current shade of Grand Prix White in 2012 and features contrasting red Carrera graphics as well as 9Eleven Raven S headlights, lightweight Lexan windows, a new German-made windshield, and aero mirrors. Other notable features include a sunroof and a 1972-specific external oil filler lid. The three-piece HRE Fuchs wheels are paired with Sumitomo HTR A/S tires sized 245/40R17 in front and 275/40R17 in the rear. The front tires were installed in July of 2021 and the seller describes some minor imperfections to the finish, detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin has been fitted with black leather bucket seats featuring custom German-made tartan inserts as well as a custom leatherette-wrapped roll bar, aluminum pedals, a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, and RS-style door panels with red pull straps.  The clock has been removed and the seller reports all instrumentation and accessories work properly apart from the oil pressure gauge as it doesn’t correspond with the 3.2-liter engine. There is no air conditioning or sound system.

This 911T has been fitted with a fuel-injected 3.2-liter flat-six engine sourced from a 1984 Carrera.  An engine rebuild was reportedly carried out about 5k miles ago with an upgraded Steve Wong performance chip, custom fabricated exhaust, and front-mounted oil cooler.  The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual gearbox featuring a new shift coupler by GBox.  Other upgrades include larger Carrera brakes, a carbon fiber front strut tower brace, and an Elephant Racing suspension setup.  An Optima H14 battery has been fitted within the smuggler’s box under an upgraded aluminum cover. A fresh oil change has been completed and service records are provided for reference in the gallery including a recent PPI and compression test results.

This sale will include service records, a set of two keys, and a clean title.

Can you please add some detailed pics of the drivers side door figment? In the video it looks like some odd gaps. It’s most likely some bad lighting but I would love to see it more closely

  • davelawrence (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@WReiter I sent the photos to you via txt yesterday.

  • davelawrence (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@gkp200 Yes. All have been resolved. GBox here in Colorado put in a new shift coupler. Shifts well.

  • davelawrence (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@Skindoc I think it is approximately 1950 lbs.

  • gkp200 (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Has the idle adjustment and hesitation noted in the records been fixed? Has the transmission getting stuck in 5th been fixed? Seems to be multiple wiring issues noted, do all the gauges and accessories work (other than oil pressure noted inop).

  • WReiter (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Following up on the underside photos and the roll cage mounting.

  • Skindoc (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

What is the weight of the car?

    Has it been dyno’d?

    Looks like a nice build.

    GLWA ??

  • davelawrence (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@racerx44 Custom headers. No SSI heat exchangers.

  • racerx44 (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

    I’m guessing no heat either?

  • PorschePhanatic 1 year, 11 monthsago

Hi - nice build - are the engine compression numbers recent or before the rebuild?

  • racerx44 (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

    If I didn’t just buy a 991.2 4S I would be all over this…. Spectacular!

  • davelawrence (seller) 1 year, 11 monthsago

@WReiter I’m tracking down the photos now. Please see new photos in a day or so. I will check on the roll cage attachment.

  • Seasmoke (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

I loved the trailer. When does the full movie come out? Who gets the film credit? ??

  • WReiter (registered bidder) 1 year, 11 monthsago

Nice hotrod! Is the roll cage welded in? Can you provide some underside photos (of the pan, forward of the engine)? I saw a car similar to this here in SoCal a couple of years ago and whoever installed the cage just used sheet metal screws put right through the floor pan. When you looked underneath the car, you could see the sharp screwtips poking through--it really let down what was otherwise a nice build. If this is the same car and that condition still exists, it's not a huge deal-- it could certainly be corrected by just welding on mounting plates and bolting the cage to those.
