Volkswagen’s Beetle was assembled in Brazil under the name Fusca in 1953 with parts imported from Germany, and by 1959 the Fusca would be 100% made in Brazil. This 1972 example comes finished in matte black over a custom red leather interior. Its seller acquired it in 2015 in Brazil and recently imported it into the U.S. This example features an upgraded 1,600cc engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, Recaro seats, a custom sound system, EMPI headlights, an upgraded suspension, and more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This Beetle is said to have been refinished in its current shade of matte black in 2017. Details include EMPI headlights, Hella Black for lights, running boards, dual side mirrors, chrome bumpers, and factory 14” wheels with chrome hud caps and custom hub cap supports. The wheels come dressed in a pair of MOMO front tires and Pirelli P6000 rear tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin has been custom upholstered in red leather and is highlighted by a pair of front Recaro bucket seats. Amenities include 3-point seat belts, a custom instrument panel, an EMPI short shifter with an 8-ball shift knob, EMPI door openers and handles, and a custom sound system with a Pioneer subwoofer, amplifier, and CD player. The seller confirms that all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain functional.

Power comes from an upgraded 1,600cc flat four-cylinder engine, sending power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transaxle. The seller reports that the engine was upgraded in 2018 and the transmission was previously overhauled. Additional services are said to include a new clutch, steering box, brakes, dampers, and tires. The suspension has been lowered at the front and features inverted axle sleeves and ratchets for height adjustment. The seller notes a small oil leak present and the clutch cable requires an adjustment.

This sale will include a clean title and a personalized bag containing a belt, accelerator cable, clutch cable, fuel pump, wheel wrench, triangle, wheel jack, extra bulbs, and tools.

The seller would like you to know:  "Over these 8 years that I have had this car, it has only brought me joy. It already had the base of what it is today, but many modifications and improvements I made along the way, from the mechanical part to the aesthetics. I designed the project thinking “less is more," taking care not to overdo it. The engine runs very well, in the configuration it is, and provides a very nice snoring without exaggeration. The riding is smooth. The exclusive reduced original steering wheel brings sportiness to driving without losing its charm, in sync with the roller accelerator pedal and the quick change lever from EMPI. The sound system is classic and all PIONEER, and provides a great sound without being overdone. It's a quality car, very lined up and solid. The doors close like a refrigerator, and the hood and engine cover too. The slightly lowered suspension gives a bad-boy look, without losing comfort. Those who buy this car will be very lucky, as they are ready to draw attention and receive praise wherever they go. It has no rust or rot."

    Hello @New York, NY (10003)
I am honored by your proposal, but I need a little more to release this beauty for you. How about $12,900.00...? I think this price is very well adjusted with the value of the car on the market. The car is in very good condition, no rust or rot, very straight and solid. The mechanics are also excellent. I will be happy to answer your questions about the car to give you the security you need to move forward with the negotiation. Thanks.

There are some kits for sale in the market. I was never particularly interested in installing this, but some of these cars have it.

    Hello @Lottacars..
Yes, only small details of normal use. No paint retouching, no tonality difference. The details in the painting are shown in the attached photos, for greater transparency in this sales process. It does not have A/C. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask, I'll be happy to answer them.

  • Lottacars (registered bidder) 11 months, 3 weeksago

@D_America Thanks for the prompt reply. Are there just normal dings etc on the paint? Any noticeable flaws, understanding touch up etc is difficult on matte.
Guessing no a/c but thought I’d ask anyway!

  • D_America (seller) 11 months, 3 weeksago

@Lottacars.. Thank you for your question.
The rear tires were already on the car when I bought it in 2015. I put the front ones on about 3 or 4 years ago. The painting is 2017, with matte varnish. I never polished. The brakes have new discs, and the brake pads too. The master cylinder was replaced two years ago. The handbrake is working great too.

    Hello @Jbrown1776.
Yes, clean title. The car is a legitimate 1972, but from the Brazilian market. I think you may be asking me this because of some difference in the rear or front light, or another detail... But customizations aside, these other details are consistent with the Brazilian 1972 Beetle. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask, I'll be happy to answer them.

Does the car have a clear Fla title? And what year is it titled as?

  • D_America (seller) 11 months, 4 weeksago

@Yogimaster @Yogimaster, yes.. i am working on it. Will be fixed in a couple of days. As an alien, as i am, sometimes take a bit longer to find the way to do the things i need to. :)

  • Yogimaster (registered bidder) 12 monthsago

Do you know where the oil leak is coming from? Can you take care of the clutch cable adjustment for the winning bidder?

  • D_America (seller) 12 monthsago
