First introduced in 1962, the Type 105 Giulia is a family of compact executive sports sedans produced in Italy until 1978. Known for its lively driving characteristics, the Giulia features a lightweight body paired with a light alloy twin overhead camshaft four-cylinder engine, making it one of the most exciting sports sedans of its day. Built on June 7, 1973, this Giulia 1300 Super was registered in Italy until the early 2010s. It was then brought to the UK before being imported to the U.S. in the mid-2010s. Paring a 5-speed manual transmission with its 1.3L twin-cam inline-four, this example comes finished in magenta over grey upholstery and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

Designed by Giuseppe Scarnati, Alfa Romeo developed the Giulia using a wind tunnel, which led to a very aerodynamic shape that produced an impressively low drag coefficient for sedans at the time. Characterized by its boxy design, the car features stainless steel bumpers with overriders, Carello headlamps, chrome trim, wraparound front and rear windows, dual side mirrors, and 14-inch steel wheels with exposed-lug hubcaps. It rides on Vredestein Sprint Classic tires and includes a trunk-mounted matching spare wheel with a Michelin tire. The seller notes previous paintwork on the body and rust at the bottom of the right front door. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in grey vinyl with black seatbacks and matching door panels. Details include woodgrain trim on the three-spoke steering wheel, dashboard, and center stack, along with Veglia instrumentation, black rubber floor mats, a fire extinguisher, and a Blaupunkt push-button radio.

Power comes from a 1.3L dual-Solex-carbureted twin overhead cam four-cylinder engine, which produced up to 88 HP and 103 lb.-ft of torque when new. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Giulia has been lauded for its lively handling and impressive acceleration, particularly when compared to other small European sedans of the era. The seller adds that Imasaf exhaust components have been fitted, and the spark plugs, air filter, and engine oil have been replaced within the past year.

This sale will include previous Italian registration documents, a clean title, and some service records.

I would but im away from the car right now and I don’t think there will be time by the time i get back this afternoon. You can see if you enlarge the photos though. There is some small amounts of rust but I’ve owned the car for 7 years and it just drives perfectly. My reserve justifies it though. Remember this is a 73. A bit more desirable.

Are you able to provide close-up photos of the rust on the bottom of the doors?

  • beefy65 (seller) 2 weeks, 3 daysago

Yes indeed and these earlier ones were way head of their time. This one drives like its on rails. A real jewel.

Beautiful Alfa, if I didn’t have a gtv6 in the garage I’d be bidding. Everyone should own an Alfa once in their life. Glwa!!
