Up for auction is this 1973 Porsche 911 E Targa.  The Targa model is known to blend aspects from both a coupe and convertible 911, providing an incredibly visceral driving experience.  Purchased from a collector on Long Island, NY, this example features a complete restoration and engine rebuild performed in 2011.  It is now being offered with 54k miles showing on the odometer.

Finished in crowd-favorite Slate Grey with a handful of period-correct upgrades, this Targa presents itself as a stand-out among other models.  Originally finished in Gemini Blue Metallic, this 911 was completely and professionally refinished in its current color around 8 years ago.  The paint is said to shine brilliantly and all body panels are straight as they should be.  Additionally, all brightwork, glass, and trimming also show to be in very clean condition.

This example features desirable 911 S integrations with early-style rear bumperettes, and an upgraded front spoiler.  Additional styling cues include H4 Euro headlights, Euro front and rear markers, auxiliary fog lamps, Gold plated Targa designations and desirable pop-out vent windows.  Currently installed, are factory 15-inch Fuchs wheels that wear a set of new Vredestein tires.

Upon opening the door, you will immediately notice the exceptional fit and finish of this interior.  Genuine Tan leather covers the front sport seats, rear seats, door cards, and dashboard trim.  Additionally, Coco floor mats are installed and stay true to the this Targa’s earthy theme.

Power comes from a numbers matching and rebuilt 2.4L flat-six fuel injected engine that is connected to a coveted 5-speed manual gearbox.  This engine/transmission combination provides a classic 911 driving experience that is so praised among Porsche enthusiasts.  The engine features SSI heat exchangers and a stainless steel rear muffler that sounds the business.  With a recent refresh including new bushings and a recalibrated MFI system, this engine is said to be in excellent running condition and ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

The sale includes a certificate of authenticity, original tool kit, owners manual, and two keys.

I would have thought it would easily be bidding over $100K so close to the end of the auction given that the restoration would easily exceed the current bid by a large margin.
