Up for auction is this beautifully presented 1973 911 S sunroof coupe finished in Silver Metallic over a black interior.  Coveted for its iconic styling, spirited 2.4L engine and exhilarating driving characteristics, the “S” model coupe remains one of the most collectible air-cooled 911’s to date.  Having undergone extensive maintenance work as well as a full engine-out service, this pristine 1973 example is now being offered for auction with approximately 25k miles showing on the odometer by its seller in New Jersey.

The Silver Metallic paint on this 911 S is stated to have been professionally refinished several years ago and stands in exemplary condition.  Additionally, all exterior trim pieces are stated to show very well.  Some noteworthy features include a desirable factory sunroof as well as Fuchs style wheels which come wrapped in Michelin tires.  Further enhancing both the performance and stance of this 911 are Koni shock absorbers.

The fully restored black partial leather interior is stated to be in excellent condition.  Features include an original Blaupunkt radio, original steering wheel, factory optioned Sport Seats, and tinted glass all-around.  This 911 remains entirely unmodified with all gauges, electrical components and accessories reported to be fully functional.

This 911 S carries its original 2.4L fuel-injected flat-six engine that sends approximately 190 HP to the rear wheels by way of a crisp 5-speed manual transmission.  A full engine-out service/rebuild was carried out in May of this year at approximately 27k miles by the technicians at Gaswerks Garage in Paramus, NJ.  During this time, the gearbox was completely resealed, and all engine internals were assessed and repaired as needed.  Offered in true turn-key condition, this 911 S is stated to be in excellent running condition.

The sale of this outstanding 911 S will include a certificate of authenticity, two keys, and an original spare tire.  This vehicle is accompanied by a clear New Jersey title and is waiting to be enjoyed by a lucky new owner.  Showing to be an impeccably well-sorted example inside and out, this 1973 911 S is not to be overlooked.

Hi seller. I´m sorry to say that, but your informations are not correct. If you support Porsche with chassie-, engine- and transmissoin # and if they are in accordance, the COA confirms it. If the # are not supported or they are not matching, they won´t confirm. How ever, how do you know and are able to confirm, that the # are matching?

@-PORSCHE- Correction, sorry... ...they will if the owner provides them with the numbers in the car AND those numbers match the factory records of the serial numbers the car left the factory back in 1973.

  • -PORSCHE- 4 years, 3 monthsago

@gaswerksgarage well, while it’s true that Porsche does not automatically put the original serial numbers of engine and transmission on the COA (today called Porsche Production Specifications) anymore, they will if the owner provides them with the numbers in the car AND those numbers match the factory records of the serial numbers the car with which the car left the factory back in 1973.

In other words, the “COA” will not/not show the original numbers of the engine and transmission UNLESS and UNTIL the owner of the car provides the correct OEM numbers of the engine and transmission that are in the car, and these match the factory records.

A Porsche Production Specifications document lacking the original serial number(s) of the engine and/or transmission either means the owner did not provide the correct numbers as installed in the car when ordering the “COA”, or the numbers provided do not/not match the factory records.

To me this is at least a yellow (if not red) flag, requiring further research before believing it’s a matching numbers car.

@Ferry Yes this car is #'s matching. Porsche no longer provides COA. When you request & pay for it they send you a PPS (Porsche Production Specifications) document. It does not list the engine and transmission #'s. Instead it provides displacement, engine type, transmission type, interior, exterior, options, year, make, model, chassis/vin.
