Now being offered for auction is this 1973 Porsche 911 ST Tribute finished in Orange over a custom black RSR-style interior.  Built as an homage to Porsche's legendary 911 ST race cars, this example features revised front and rear bumpers, flared fenders and a rebuilt 3.0 L flat-six engine with upgraded cams and Weber carburetors.  Offering visceral driver-oriented performance and a vintage race car inspired feel, this ST Tribute remains in excellent running order with a recent tune-up performed under the care of its seller in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Starting life out as a standard 911T, this example has been completely refinished in Orange with fiberglass ST-style bumpers and fender flares.  The paint is stated to be in good overall condition with some signs of wear, although the seller has indicated some areas of residual Red factory paint as well as some faint rivet impressions which are noticeable on both rear fenders (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  The undercarriage is said to have been coated in the past, however, the seller has indicated some small oxidation spots on the lower rear corners of the spring plates.  This 911 rides on brushed-finish genuine Fuchs wheels which show to be in fantastic condition.

Inside, the black interior has been redone with a new headliner, Classic Touring RSR-style seats, RS carpeting, a Wevo shifter assembly and rear coupler, Auto Power roll bar, Schroth Harnesses (expired) and a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel. The cabin is stated to be in very good condition with some typical signs of age-appropriate wear.  The air conditioning and radio have been deleted along with the center horn button, however, all other gauges and accessories are reported to be fully functional.

This 911 has been fitted with an air-cooled 3.0 L flat-six engine sourced from a later-model Porsche 911 SC.  The rear wheels are driven by way of an aluminum case 5-speed 915 manual transmission.  The engine is reported to have been previously rebuilt with new ARP head studs, upgraded cams, Carrera chain tensioners, Turbo valve covers, a Dansk stainless steel sport muffler and Weber carburetors.  The suspension has new front strut inserts, a bump steer kit, Turbo torsion bars and a larger front sway bar. A recent tune-up has been performed along with the installation of new Bilstein front shock absorbers.  3rd gear is reported to be slightly notchy, however, this 911 is said to be in otherwise fantastic driving condition and up to date on all routine service.

The sale of this 911 will include an ignition and door lock key, a clear title and some recent service records.  For any air-cooled enthusiast craving raw driver-oriented performance, this 3.0 L ST Tribute offers the perfect opportunity.

    Great looking car!

Do you have any videos of car driving?

@coloradosportsdoc @gulfblue20 Not a lot of history on the mileage or use of the car. The car is not setup as a track car. Id say more of a spirited street hotrod. Gives the driver the emotion of a track car. Engine is strong. The carburetors are setup well. The car has updated hydraulic tensioners, turbo valve covers and ARP studs evident when covers were off. Very dry motor. I have has the intakes off for reseal of manifold gaskets and the valves are incredibly clean. So I have to imagine the engine is lower mileage. No odd mechanical noises. The car is all around a very visceral driving experience. It is loud, smells like fuel and gives you lots of feedback when driving it. Just how it should be in my opinion! Thanks Miles

@roma all of the corrosion is what is indicated. Everything coward of the rear spring plate section is very very solid. Including battery boxes, front pan and rockers

  • Roma (registered bidder) 3 years, 7 monthsago

It’s a bit tricky to see if there is any corrosion from the pic’s. Can you plz share with us if there is any other corrosion other than what you have indicated? THX
