Marking the final year of the classic long-hood 911, this 1973 Porsche 911T Targa was originally sold by Autohaus Herbst & Co of Nuremberg to a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army while he was stationed at a hospital in Germany. It comes finished in Light Yellow over a black interior with velour seat centers and features a 2.4-liter flat-six engine, a 5-speed manual transaxle, an optional rear window wiper, and 15” Fuchs alloy wheels. A full engine rebuild was performed by Chris Powell about 10 years ago with less than 1k miles driven since, and the car is supported by two binders of documentation including an original German sales invoice. This one-owner 911T Targa is now being offered for auction out of California.

This 911T came factory-finished in the classic 1970s pastel color of Light Yellow (117). Equipment includes a removable black vinyl roof panel, a brush stainless steel Targa bar, a heated glass rear window, a rear window wiper, aluminum rocker moldings, black-trimmed taillights and horn grilles, chrome bumperettes with rubber overriders, chrome headlamp rings, a driver’s side mirror, and 15” Fuchs alloy wheels. The seller states the paint is in excellent original condition along with the exterior brightwork and factory Sigla windshield. Some minor cosmetic imperfections in the paint are depicted in the gallery.

The black interior features bucket seats with rare velour inserts. Accessories include a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, three-point seatbelts, aluminum door sill moldings, manual window cranks, analog VDO gauges, a heater, and an aftermarket stereo.

The 2.4-liter flat-six engine was rebuilt by Chris Powell within the last 1k miles including refurbished Zenith carburetors, a rebuilt alternator, updated valve covers, new stainless-steel SSI heat exchangers, a ceramic-coated muffler, Clubsport engine mounts, and an upgraded SC/Carrera Sachs clutch kit. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Images of the engine case stamping and matching engine number record are provided in the gallery

This sale will include owner's manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know:  "One of the best original paint long hoods I've ever seen. Top notch preserved in original condition and serviced up. Needs nothing. Documented from new."

@Urelfer I do apologize I just received the translation from my friend. The paper I thought was the window sticker was the parts list. As for the ownership. Dr. Brinkman bought the car new. As you can see in the owners manual. With 48 km on it. I wonder if Mr Stubbs was involved with the importing?

  • Urelfer (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@seller: Which picture do you think shows the window sticker? I'm fluent in German and did not see anything else than a invoice for spare parts from 1977. Also, if I read the records correctly, this is a 2 owner car. According the information in picture 154, Mr. Brinkman has bought it in May of 1977 from a Mr. Stubbs. But the sevice booklet says that it has been originally bought from Brinkman. Confusing. What did I miss?

@eagle32 the hood as best to inspection is original paint. Also you'll see paint meter readings below. The inserts are original as is the interior. You'll find the window sticker in the gallery as well. Thank you for your interest!!

@tspeedster targa top is very nice and fits excellent. I do not know if it leaks as I have not applied water. And don't plan to. But it seals very snug and gaskets are soft. I did remove the top. It folds nicely ect.

  • bigvitty4u (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Roma hello and good morning! The brakes and suspension are very good. No squeaking or rattling. The suspension is firm and crisp. The brakes apply well and do not pull. Fluid has been flushed.

  • tspeedster (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

How is the condition of the Targa roof panel? Leaks? Seals and gaskets ok? Thank you

  • eagle32 (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Good looks like a slightly different shade of yellow. Possible the hood has been repainted? Are the velour factory option? Do you have original window sticker?

  • Roma (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Would the Seller plz comment on the condition of the brakes and suspension, i.e. is any work required? Thx

  • bigvitty4u (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago
