Marking the final year of the classic long hood F-Series 911, this 1973 Porsche 911E Targa came factory-finished in Aubergine over a black leatherette interior and featured optional stabilizer bars, Comfort Equipment, and specifications for the U.S. market. The car is believed to have spent most of its life in Arizona before moving to California where it was subsequently restored by a Porsche specialist based in San Francisco. It had been freshly restored when the current owner purchased the car and approximately 1,500 miles have been driven since. Equipped with a proper fuel-injected 2.4L engine as well as its original numbers matching gearbox, this 911E is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This 911E is presented in its factory-specified color of Aubergine and sports aluminum rocker moldings, black horn grilles and lettering, a 911S-type front spoiler, and a brushed silver Targa band with a removable roof panel. The car is said to have been completely stripped and refinished during its restoration and rides on a set of factory 15” Fuchs wheels dressed in Dunlop Direzza tires. The seller adds that all parts used during the restoration were either new or refurbished to as-new condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin was redone with new black leatherette upholstery and carpeting during the restoration before the current owner fitted a pair of leather RS-style sport seats. The seller notes the original door pockets and trim have been retained and reports the gauges were professionally restored by Palo Alto Speedometer. All accessories are said to remain fully functional apart from the original factory radio.
This 911E carries a fuel-injected 2.4-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed 915/02 manual gearbox. Both the engine and transmission were completely rebuilt during the restoration along with the brakes and suspension. The seller notes the original numbers matching gearbox has been retained while the replacement engine case was sourced from a 911 of the same production period. Since the restoration, three oil/filter changes have been completed, upgraded Turbo tie rods have been installed, and a valve adjustment was performed along with the replacement of a valve cover gasket.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, the original spare tire, a Porsche Production Specifications Certificate, and a clean title.

@MJSR Correct. The engine block is original. Original was 6321239 . In the car is 6321020. So the engine in the car is an earlier production but not off by too much 1020 versus 1239. Both are 911/52 engine type. 632 is 6 cylinders, 3 is 1973 and 2 is E. So it is at least the correct engine type. Hope this helps.

@BarryLe I bought a finished car from a well respected Porsche builder. He didn't share his costs with me. Car was warranted for a year after purchase and valve adjustment and oil change after initial break in period were included as part of the sale. Engine was also broken in on a dyno by the engine builder.
Things I added after the initial purchase I have receipts for like the leather RS Seats and Turbo Tie Rod end parts and install.
beagling: Thank you. Do you have receipts from the restoration? The more documentation that you present here, the higher the price you will get. I have restored a number of 911's for myself as well as a 356 SC Cab. I have been very meticulous in keeping all of the receipts from my restorations so my daughter could easily document the costs at a future time to a potential buyer when I am long dead and buried.
@BarryLe yes I have the original seats and they are reupholstered and boxed up and ready to go with sale of the car.
Originally an Arizona car that spent last 20 years in California just waiting to be restored. The Porsche builder I bought the car from was Ryan Turri in San Francisco Ryan i a well known car builder in the Bay Area. He sent the car out for paint and interior and had the engine done by a well known Porsche engine builder in Nevada. Everything else was done in his shop in SF. As you can see the car was completely disassembled and put back together like new with either new parts or refurbished/re[plated parts.
