Up for auction at no reserve is this 1973 Porsche 914 finished in Zambezi Green over a black leatherette interior. Powered by a 1.7-liter flat-four paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle, this two-seater mid-engine 914 represents an excellent entry point into classic Porsche ownership. This example is said to have been purchased by its seller about 3 years ago from a local PCA President. Under the current ownership, the car has reportedly only ever required routine maintenance. This 914 wears a set of Yokohama tires and is being offered for auction by its owner in Pennsylvania.
Outside this 914 is said to have been refinished in its factory specified color of Zambezi Green some years ago under previous ownership. Some cosmetic imperfections can be seen in the provided images. This example rides on factory 15” 4 lug Fuchs wheels wrapped in nearly new Yokohama Avid Envigor tires.
Inside the black leatherette interior is noted to be in fair condition, with only a few small tears to the seat upholstery as shown in the image gallery. The unique center-console features additional analog gauges as part of the Appearance Group option. A later-model Porsche radio is present, and all gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.
This 914 is powered by an air-cooled fuel-injected 1.7L VW Type 4 flat-four engine that sends approximately 80 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. Standard routine maintenance is said to have been kept up to date by the current owner.
This sale will include two sets of keys, the original books, shop manuals, service records, spare rocker panels and engine lid, and a clean title. These classic mid-engine Porsches are steadily increasing in value and remain some of the few air-cooled cars that are still attainable at the entry-level for enthusiasts.
