Available for auction is this 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce finished in Verde Inglese over a black vinyl interior. Building on the success of the original Series 1 “Duetto” Spider, Alfa's Series 2 Spider featured a revised rear end known among enthusiasts as the "Kamm Tail". Believed to be a lifelong West Coast car, this 1974 example was acquired by the current owner out of California in 2017 and had previously been cared for by a Vice President of the Alfa Romeo Club in Arizona. With a recent refresh of the brakes and new shock absorbers, this classic Spider Veloce is now being offered for auction without reserve accompanied by a Certificato Di Origine from Alfa Romeo Classiche.

The Pininfarina-designed bodywork comes finished in Verde Inglese, the original factory specified color as confirmed by the Certificato Di Origine.  The car had been refinished at some point under prior ownership and the underside is said to have undergone rust repair with the installation of new sheet metal.  The seller recommends the underside of the car be refinished and described some imperfections throughout the exterior as depicted in the gallery. This Spider rides on a set of 14” Campagnolo wheel dressed in Ironman GR906 tires from 2016.

The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl upholstery with matching carpets and a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel. Features included manually operated windows, Alfa Romeo rubber floor liners, a locking glove box, and three gauges in the center console underscored by a stainless steel Pininfarina badge.  A small crack is noted in the center of the dashboard and the seller confirms all gauges, lights, and accessories remain fully functional.

Power comes from a 1,962cc SPICA fuel-injected twin-cam inline four-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Service in 2021 is said to have included an oil and filter change, a new brake master cylinder, rear brake cylinders, brake pads, brake hoses, shock absorbers, and rebuilt front brake calipers.

This sale will include a toolkit, a Certificato Di Origine from Alfa Romeo Classiche, and a clean title. With its timeless Pininfarina styling and classic green color, this Alfa Spider is ready to be enjoyed by a new caretaker.

    I’m ‘6 4” scared I’d look like Fred Flintstone. I can’t bye older corvettes for this reason. But I live in SD so maybe I’ll take a shot.

    @prfulmer hello, I think you could get in easily. I am 5’9” and there is enough room between my head and the top when it is closed. If you like I can measure the distance between the seat and the top when I am sitting inside.

    This may sound like an odd question, but how tall are you? I’m 6’4” and I love this car but I don’t know if I can get in it.

    Beautiful car. I think it would be hard to find a better example these days. And finally a green color other than all red.

    @Dwhite Hello,
    You are correct; at one point, and it was under the previous ownership, it had a couple of rust holes that were cured by cleaning the rust and stopping it by undercoating just that area to prevent the rust from expanding. Then they added new sheet metal inside, as you could see in one of the photos I just added (see photo 194).
    The floorboard is not really rusted; it is just without undercoating paint, so the metal is exposed (see photo added 195). As I mentioned in my previous comment, this car could be easier to be brought to the next level of perfection by undercoating the undercarriage and polishing the exterior.
    Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Love these cars and Italian cars in general as well.

    I just need some clarification on the underside photos. It looks like there is a rust hole in the chassis pic# 156 upper right(not factory hole) and something going on in the floor boards pics# 157 upper center as well as #158. Any chance of getteng better pictures of the undercarriage. Thank you.

    Dear Bidders,
    My name is Nicola. I love cars, as many of you do here. I am just passionate about cars in general and exotic cars and mostly Italian cars. This is my first time posting a vehicle in an online auction. I bought this Alfa Spider to complete the restoration since it wouldn't take much to make it perfect, but then I ended up also having other projects cars to finish, and I couldn't dedicate time to this. So my garage and driveway are packed right now:). The vehicle has excellent service history; as you can see in the photos; and in the video the car is perfectly driveable. I drove it a few times to cars and coffee and a few ride during the weekend for a couple of hours since 2017. So it is an ideal candidate to be brought to the next level to be shown in cars concourses.
    Please post any questions that you may have, and I will try to answer them as soon as I can. Thank you All, and happy bidding...
