We are pleased to present this one-off custom 1974 Porsche 911 U.S. Carrera Coupe.  Having been professionally restored by well-known Porsche specialists’ shop Musante Motorsports. This factory U.S. Carrera was fitted with many high-quality cosmetic and mechanical upgrades making it one of the most unique Carreras on the market today.  Boasting over $100k in restoration work, this 911 has only been driven 2500 miles since completion and is being offered for auction in excellent condition out of a Missouri collection.

During a 2008 restoration, this Carrera was professionally refinished in its original Porsche color of Grand Prix White.  Exterior enhancements include a lightweight composite front valence with integrated fog lights and a lightweight composite rear bumper.  Additional styling cues include factory Carrera Script along the rocker panels, a factory rear spoiler, and a dual outlet exhaust system.  This Carrera rides on 16” Fuchs wheels that wear a set of Michelin tires.  It is safe to say that this 911 is a true head turner!

Inside, this 911 sports a completely restored black interior that stands in excellent condition.  A weight saving RS carpet has been installed under a set of OEM black leather sports seats that remain in like-new condition.  Other features include an upgraded steering wheel, and Wevo shifter.  The seller has confirmed that all gauges, electronics and accessories are fully functional.

Power is sourced from a custom balanced & blueprinted 3.6L flat-six engine that is paired to a 915 5-speed transmission with custom synchro’s.  Some noteworthy performance enhancements include a Clewett twin plug ignition, lightweight aluminum flywheel, PMO carburetors, Quaife limited slip differential, heavy duty starter, and oil cooler.  The result is an impressive 310hp Dyno-sheet, which makes this vehicle a real contender on the street.  Handling the power are Bilstein sport front strut inserts and rear shock absorbers, Turbo tie-rods, and upgraded front and rear torsion bars. The seller notes that a full inspection and service was performed upon his purchase just 2 years ago. The car is up to date on all basic services and ready to be taken to the next level of enjoyment by its new owner.

The sale will include all factory books, service records, documentation of the build, 2 keys, and a tool kit.

@PORSCHE1 @jd-gt350 Ha! That's the kind of race history I'm looking for! Thanks, Jim.

Having served as a concourse judge for over 10 years for SAAC, I recognize the damage inflicted on a vehicle. That said this is not that car. After the restoration in 2008 it spent almost 9 years on consignment for sale @ "THE LARGEST AIR COOLED DEALER". Now over 2 years with me. I must confess I have been racing it! To the PCA club breakfast on Saturday mornings about 6 times, on 2 PCA club fun runs some times exceeding 100mph and lastly showing up my son in his 2002 PORSCHE 996tt. Now you all know.

@PORSCHE1 @jd-gt350 thanks, but do you have any info on whether the car has been raced in the past? And are you aware of any race-related wear and tear?

  • PORSCHE1 (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

Here is the cut off part of the page from Musante Motorsport...
    Brakes
    . Steel front calipers
    . 23 mm master cylinder
    . Stainless steel brake lines
    . Hawk competition brake pads
"Big wood" is correct I was totally unprepared to advertise this Porsche it was put away in storage for it's long winters nap. I was solicited to list. With that in mind their is a possibility some one may get a fantastic deal on a near perfectly restored 1974 PORSCHE U.S. CARRERA

  • PORSCHE1 (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

Several days ago I uploaded 90 more photos they have not made it yet..
Last nite I noted the comment on the brakes, they were upgraded, that page on the restoration was cut off I'll correct that.

@PORSCHE1 @jd-gt350 thanks Jim! To be totally honest, for the kind of money that you are going to want for this great build, I think you should probably provide more photos, video and more documentation to back up the price. It will be a lot of coin to spend on the internet blindly. I am seriously interested in the car but unfortunately I live in Seattle so I can’t visit it in person. Good luck with the sale!

Great build . My only reservation are the brakes . 300+ HP and standard callipers ? My SC hotrod has less HP and I had to upgrade my brakes to feel safe. Just my opinion.

Those items were remove because I am not interested in racing or tracking this beautifully restored, rare PORSCHE. Even a casual glance @ any of the photos easily reveal this is no track queen. The inconvenience and discomfort of the removed equipment is essential for me to enjoy this PORSCHE.

The Musante build sheet has several racing-related items crossed out (full roll cage, harnesses, etc.). When and why were these mods removed, and what info do you have on whether this car was ever raced?

  • PORSCHE1 (seller) 4 years, 2 monthsago

I do wish I had available a complete photo & video record of work accomplish by Musante Motorsports, I don't. I did receive the letter on their letter head outlining work done to this Porsche. Most production shops don't wish to take their time doing that, an individual would be more inclined to verify their work that way.

@thustra Hi Mike, all bids are accepted. The reserve is not disclosed, when the auction ends and results are announced. Thank you.

What a beauty. As a newbie here, can someone enlighten me as to why no bids? Are below reserve bids not accepted/posted? I assume the reserve is not listed/disclosed?

    Thank you, Mike

I must confess I have never tested the heater..this is not exactly a winter ride.

Is the heat working in this one?

  • Bigwood 4 years, 2 monthsago

Who is Tim Saulks? He wrote his name in paint on the suspension! Really nice car, I am thinking that this is just what I need in my garage.

  • Love2bugs (registered bidder) 4 years, 2 monthsago

This vehicle is one of the greatest cars
to ever grace the pages of the PCARmarket, without a doubt.
Congrats and Kudos for such a fine
    presentation

    Hi Ralph,
I have been over, under and all around this Porsche. I find no sign of any prior
damage, repairs or rust. The panel gaps are excellent, body work is
outstanding, and paint finish is near flawless.
