Up for auction is this 1975 Cadillac Eldorado Coupe finished in Mandarin Orange over a matching Mandarin Orange leather interior. This Eldorado was acquired from a collector in Spokane, Washington, after being tucked away in a barn for nearly 40 years. It was last registered in 1987 and was part of a large collection of nearly 160 vehicles. It has been recently prepared for a new owner with fresh tires, a new battery, and thorough detailing. Impeccably well preserved, this rare double-orange Eldorado is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Washington showing approximately 44k miles on the odometer.

This 1975 example is finished in Mandarin Orange (34) with a matching Landau top. Details include chrome bumpers, chrome Cadillac-branded mirrors, white pinstriping, Cadillac crests on the Landau top, and Eldorado badging on the rear quarter panels. This Eldorado rides on factory 15” steel wheels with crested covers and new Nexen whitewall tires. The seller describes the finish to have been very well-kept, although a common rust spot is visible where the right rear quarter panel meets the top. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior is upholstered in Mandarin Orange (672) leather accented by wood grain trim. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, full power accessories, a soft-close trunk, and an 8-track stereo. All features and instrumentation are said to work properly apart from the air conditioning system. The original upholstery is said to be in excellent shape having been thoroughly cleaned and conditioned.

This Eldorado Coupe is powered by a carbureted 500ci V8, which was factory rated at 190 HP and 360 lb.-ft of torque. The front wheels are driven through a 3-speed automatic transmission. A lube sticker from the early 1980s substantiates the original mileage, and the engine is described to run smoothly while minor seepage is present at the transmission pan gasket. Some noise is also reported from the water pump upon startup.

This sale will include a clean title. A product of the “Spirited Seventies” and the epitome of luxury for the era, this incredibly rare double orange 1975 Eldorado is a true time capsule.

Folks, thanks for looking and bidding. I have a previous engagement this morning that will keep me from answering questions towards auctions end. Sorry for that. Should you have any additional questions, I have a couple of hours yet this morning to do so. Fire away.

A day left .... I added a couple of chassis shots, best I could, I don't have a hoist. The chassis has not been cleaned , it is absolutely dry.

@MacadooMotors How does it smell inside?
Fresh, or Musty? Sorry I missed these two. There is no odor in the car what-so-ever with the exception of the smell of leather.

@MacadooMotors How does it smell inside?

What doesn’t work? - The AC (stated in ad)
Clock, radio, aerial, cruise control…other stuff -All working (stated in ad)
How is the ride quality? Sitting for that long, it’s a concern. Bushings, suspension…PERFECT. shock rebound is excellent (40,000 miles ) no steering play, car tracks dead straight, not a squeak or rattle in the car
Thanks for showing the rust spot. Any others? How far do you think the rust goes around that area? It looks deep. - Typical place for rust on these cars I hear. There is no other rust in the car anywhere . I don't think it will take much to repair. I unfortunately do not have a hoist..I'll see if I can get a few chassis shots for you... the chassis looks like the sahara...the cars original exhaust is still its original silver color :)

@Rahtok Agree! I have never been a fan of "foriegn" cars (Fords, Chevy's, Cadillac's, Lincoln's etc) but, I smile everytime I get behind the tiller of this land yacht. The only problem is finding a good Harbor Pilot and weighing anchor half hour before leaving the berth :)

I also firmly believe that these American land yachts are the next big collector market. Remember in the late 90's the "cash for clunkers" programs that crushed thousands of these cars. There are very few left that are in truly exceptional condition. I started telling my clients over 10 years ago to buy station wagons. They looked at me as though I were nuts. Have you priced a "good" station wagon lately ????

    Happy bidding y'all

@porscheklaus 100% agree. I stumbled across an Orange over white 73 Eldo Convertible a couple months ago that came out of a Spokane collection. Had the owners name emblazoned on the dash with a plaque. Not usually my cup of tea, but... it's an amazingly good car. Yes it's 18.5 feet of Land Yacht. But the build quality was pretty damn good with tight panel fits and such 'luxury items' as auto on/off headlamps, auto hvac, etc. Parts are shockingly easy to come by and cheap, with many parts being mfg'd 3rd party. Truly looks like a great specimen you've got there, and... the attention this thing gets is weirdly legendary. It's truly the biggest of the big of a bygone era and it makes people smile.

GLWA - this thing is literally the 70s wrought in iron!

@Rahtok No but, I'm sure just as nice of folks :)

Thank you, I love this car. I will say however, that you don't really "drive" it as much as you "guide it along" :)

This collection wouldn't happen to be McLaughlin's would it?

Also, the magic of Leatherique is legendary. What a great and well preserved example!

There are 3 photos of the car the day it was taken out of the barn and brought to Spokane. The dust was thick, making the car look brown. I wanted to give the potential buyer an idea of what was required and done to get the car road worthy. It took multiple washes to remove the nearly 40 years of accumulated dirt , as the dirt was washed away, the car began to emerge, its amazing condition became more and more apparent. Mechanically, the car required little. Spark plugs were removed, Marvel Mistry oil was added to the cylinders and allowed to sit for a day. The fuel system was drained of approximately 9 gallons of NON ethanol fuel. The cars oil was changed and a new battery installed. The engine was turned over to insure that there was oil pressure, the plugs reinstalled and the car lit, instantly. The brake master cylinder was replaced as there was no pedal (the only mechanical replacement part required) New Tires were installed, with a curb weight of over 5,100 lbs, 40 year old tires wouldn't have gone 100 feet :)

Detailing was next. The car was clayed, cut and polished... no 'small" feat , it me over a week just to correct the paint. The leather was cleaned and conditioned using a fantastic (though expensive) product called "leatherique". The cars leather is simply "as new" with no defects what-so-ever! The car was then driven for the first time in nearly 4 decades. it runs perfectly, shifts smoothly. Brake modulation and feel are excellent with no brake chatter. I have noticed that on cold start only, the water pump is just a tad noisy, but, goes away very quickly. This is not the first Cadillac that I acquired from the family, there have been a few. What we have been able to determine is that all of the cars were serviced prior to storage, oil changes, transmission fluid and coolant were all changed prior to storage. The barn has a gravel floor, no moisture from sitting on concrete. All cars had their hoods up (rodents hate light) dryer sheets were placed in the cars (good tip) rodents hate them, and a number of "well fed" felines roam the barn. Grandpa knew how to store cars. News papers from the early '80's were found in the truck .... the classifieds had some amazing deals. "1967 Porsche 911s, clean, well taken care of. $9,000"

The car has a huge presence (no pun).

I have been a Porsche guy since I can remember (longer than I care to admit) but, when I came across this Eldorado.... let's just say I always wanted to captain a yacht :) It's an amazing car. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this time capsule. I have spent hours, actually days trying to find another triple mandarin Orange Eldorado coupe with absolutely no success. I am not suggesting I have the only one, but, many of these big boats were crushed years ago in the "cash or clunker" programs .... so... I might :) Happy bidding.... Oh, measure your garage, the car is 18 feet long :)
