The final iteration of the Fiat 500 emerged as the R model, affectionately dubbed "Rinnovata" or Renovated. Unveiled in tandem with the new Fiat 126 in November 1972, this version boasted a 594cc engine akin to that of the 126. Notably, its power output mirrored that of the L model although at a reduced rev threshold, registering at 4,000 RPM rather than 4,400. This 1975 Fiat 500 R comes finished in Tufa Yellow over rare black/light-blue cloth and leather upholstery. Initially purchased by the seller's close family member in the Province of Agrigento, this classic Fiat is now being offered for auction out of Italy.

This 500 R comes finished in Tufa Yellow (Giallo Tufo, 246) with a black retractable soft top. Equipment includes polished chrome bumpers, bright chrome trim along the front windows, black trim along the windshield and rear windows, a driver’s door mirror, a vented engine cover, and a rear-mounted luggage rack with a wicker travel bag secured by leather straps. The tires are reported to have 70% remaining tread and the seller notes some areas of refinishing due to cosmetic imperfections. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings.

Inside, the cabin presents black and light-blue upholstery. The seller adds that the materials were selected in leather and cloth, a rare option at the time executed upon the customer’s request. Other details include body-colored surrounds, a black-finished two-spoke steering wheel, and black floor mats. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

The rear-mounted air-cooled 594cc 126A5.00 inline-four engine sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transaxle. As much as 18 HP at 4,000 RPM is derived, compared to 18 HP at 4,600 RPM in the F and L models. Service items are said to include an oil and filter change, replacement of spark plugs, thorough cleaning of the carburetor, installation of a new battery, fitting of a new brake pump, and installation of new platinum points and condenser components.

This sale will include a clean title, a toolkit, and a parcel carrier with a wicker case.

The seller would like you to know: “The car is a genuine example from 1975, one of the last produced, R model with an upgraded 594cc engine. The paintwork on most of the car is original from the time. The interior is a very rare combination of cloth/leather which was an option at the customer's request. Interiors were usually standard in Sky. Always cared for and kept in efficient condition. Single owner and always belonged to the same family. Always stored in the garage. Clean title in my name.”

I had the pleasure of purchasing a 1971 Fiat 500L from this seller a few years ago. I wanted to compliment them on the help they gave me with the purchasing process. The condition of the car, once I received it, was also as described. I recommend them highly but caution buyers that the import and shipping is slow and expensive. Do your research!

Love your vehicle still has the mini Euro Italy front license plate, plus the square Euro Italy rear license plate. Those were missing on my vehicle at purchase, after having spent most of it's existence in Viterbo, Italy, leaving mine w/ an empty tiny front plate bracket. I wanted a recreation front plate and fortunately the company that makes ALL of the vehicle plates used on movie cars is in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Great those already exist on your vehicle.
