This 1975 Porsche 911 Coupe is finished in Ice Green Metallic over a black vinyl interior with Tartan plaid inserts and was subject to a full restoration after being acquired from its third owner. It was fully disassembled and resprayed in its original color using Glasurit paint, and the original engine was replaced with a flat-six sourced from a 1987 Carrera featuring an increased 3.4L displacement, individual throttle bodies, and a MoTec management system. The suspension has also been set to European-spec ride height and paired with larger torsion bars for improved handling. Benefitting from a recent service including a valve adjustment, oil change, and a brake system flush, this 1975 911 is now being offered at auction by its seller out of Tennessee.

The exterior is finished in Silver Green Metallic (250) and includes impact bumpers, chrome window moldings, and a polished driver’s side door mirror. The seller notes a small chip in the hood, detailed images are provided in the gallery. The 15” Fuchs-style Deep Six wheels are mounted with Dunlop Direzza tires in the front, and Pirelli P7 Cinturato tires in the rear, both showing date codes from 2019.

The cabin features newly upholstered seats in black Porsche "pigskin" vinyl with Tartan plaid inserts as well as a perforated beige headliner, a newly re-covered black vinyl dashboard, and matching door panels and carpeting. Equipment includes a locking glovebox, an aftermarket Kenwood radio, a leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel, an analog clock, and VDO instrumentation. The seller reports the original speedometer was replaced in June of 1975 at 1,639 miles as recorded in the original service book, and the vehicle is said to have traveled approximately 114,500 miles since. The original Blaupunkt radio is said to accompany the sale.

Power comes from an upgraded flat-six engine derived from a 1987 911 Carrera. The displacement was increased to 3.4L with a 10:0:1 compression ratio and the engine has been fitted with individual throttle bodies as well as a MoTec management system. An estimated output of approximately 300 HP is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed 915 manual transmission with an upgraded Sachs power clutch.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, associated sales literature, and comprehensive service documents.

@Smitty My factory 1975 spec book says 915/40 is an 8:31. In 1975 it can come either way and this one is definitely an 8:31. When I responded before, I glanced at the book and it's the 4-speed 915s that were still 7:31. A Carrera is a 7:31. So, it's a weird year. But, we know for sure this one is an 8:31 because I literally just checked the number on the car and it's a 915/40.

  • Smitty (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@patwilliams OK. I thought the 7:31's last year was 1974 and the 8:31 began in 1975???

  • patwilliams (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@OnlyOnePorsche Original radio is in one of the added pictures. I have torsion bars, and a few other things. Car was so nice that much of it is original, bumper guards, things like that were excellent and not Chinese..accordians , all window and functional rubber replaced with new OEM where ever possible. So not a huge pile of leftovers.

  • patwilliams (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@stupendous It has working ventilation, defrost, heat, but not AC. AC is retrofit-able. Since it has the 1987 engine, the late style aluminium bracket and Nippondenso rotary compressor will bolt right on. I could most likely find these around here for you .

@OnlyOnePorsche Hi, One of those receipts from either 1976 or 1979 is for a fender right front. In those days people would say, "I want e new fender" apron. etc, zero damage. I would not have known If I didn't see it on the invoice. They are 24.5mm torsion bars from a Carrera if memory serves. Trunk area was painted. Car was 100 % this factory green and interior is all original except headliner, front covered original seats. Crpet, doors, rear, all original.

  • patwilliams (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@Foxtrot Please tell Lee that I said hi and thank you for the birthday wishes.

  • patwilliams (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

@patwilliams I believe that the new picture that are in the gallery will help. Thank you to the people that helped me see what was important. The dyno chart is from the original build. Right on the money at 259 RWHP. Most would calculate this as north of 300 BHP. car weighs about 2300 and change with 4-5 gallons of gas in it. Engine, transmission , clutch all rebuilt and parts listed in detail. Also shows all of the chassis , rubber seals, brake parts etc. The second invoice is when the new SSI heat exchangers and quiet muffler were done.
Engine: started as a virgin 1987 3.2 motronic carrera engine. Rebuilt by me with all proper upgrades and made into a 3.4 liter. MoTec coil on plug , individual throttle PMO intake system. (I had a person ask me about the carburetors) I realized then that I had failed to describe engine properly. It is not carbureted. It has a system that we have done many times that is dead reliable, starts like a modern engine cold or hot engine or in cold or hot weather. We have these all over the north american continent from Alberta on down. We use OEM sensors, coils, etc. These parts have a part number and can by found and purchased easily because they were on 10s of 1000s of cars. Whats more is they generally don't fail because they are OEM. I would not send someone across the Mohave desert with a blister packed, hot rod ignition part with a checkered flag on the package. I appreciate the good eye you have, A couple of you have seen things that I didn't. The hood wasn't adjusted as well as it could be. please look at pics. Thank you all for your interest and enthusiasm. PW

@Smitty Full turbo 1989 radiator style cooler with all factory lines and thermostat. Runs cool. Many cars run hot because the engine doesn't seal well internally or poor tuning or both. An air cooled engine that has poor containment of the combustion gasses within the combustion space will always run hot. Just in case you know of other cars that run hot. This car is cool in any weather.

@nameuser Hello, Would encourage you to drive it. I've done a poor job of conveying how we build cars. We do not build garage queens. Doesn't mean that you can't turn it into one. Our cars run, period. More later. But fly over, I'll pick you up at the airport. In the car.

  • nameuser (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

    Hello Sir / @patwilliams,
    First, absolutely beautiful car.

Second, would you be offended if someone planned on flying in and driving the car out? If it was built as a garage queen in mind, would not want to buy it, and would not want to offend.

Third, any concerns mechanically / suggestions if someone was going to pile ~1000 miles on this build out the door? Thank you for your time, again, great looking build!

@patwilliams The above description states a full restoration. Is this a complete disassembly nut & bolt, interior, undercarriage, doors, windows etc. with just the tub left. What new exterior parts were put on the car during reassembling; Glass & seals, door seals, sill plates, bumperettes, lights (front & rear). Do you have the new replacement "Specification Labels" for the engine compartment. Was the front trunk repainted. Do you have picture of the restoration, if so please upload them so we can see the depth of the restoration for clarity. Also, it would be helpful if you would list separately on a sheet of paper, a quick write up the main items, what was replaced with new parts for the interior, exterior, engine and suspension and upload them. Since you spent a lot of time on the restoration this should be a quick update. Pictures of Receipts on the work and original parts would be helpful. Larger torsion bars. What size. Carpet is listed under "Newly" is the carpet new or original. This would clear up the ambiguities and vagueness in the above description. The car is beautiful just looking for clarity before bidding. Also, does the car have all original panels and if not which one's have been replaced.

    Two questions:
    1) sunroof? Looks like a non-sunroof car but hard to tell.

@2mAn This engine's potential is greatly affected by the very quiet stock muffler on it. The owner of the car wanted it really quiet. It starts to affect it only after about 5,300 RPM. I know we all know this, but just for clarity:
    torque X RPM / 5252 = horsepower
So having built this same basic engine many times, with the same bore and stroke, intake, the same cams, same compression ratio, etc. , it is not optimized with this muffler. The airflow limit is reached at 5,300 with this muffler. This muffler is for a 2.7 liter stock engine in a 1974 dual inlet. Works great, but with a sport muffler the car would have around 260 rwhp. We have a similar car with headers and a more open muffler that's 290 rwhp. The engine is conservatively rated at that, limited by the muffler. We've have a SuperFlow Autodyne 30 chassis dyno since 2006, we have a SuperFlow 902S engine dyno also so these are real numbers from real engines. Hope this helps.

  • 2mAn (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

If the car was on a dyno, why is the BHP / WHP just estimated? Was hoping to see a dyno plot

  • tds993 (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Thanks for the quick and thorough response. GLWA

  • patwilliams (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@tds993 The shocks are Koni adjustables front &rear bought by previous (2nd) owner. The two front ones were in the box and we tested the Koni rear shocks. It handles very well.

  • patwilliams (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@tds993 The shifting is great. The magnesium 915 from 1972-1977 shifts the best of all 915 transmissions in my opinion. It has these nifty roller ball sleeve bearings that the shift shafts float on that the later (aluminium 915) doesn't. Also there are many variations of the 915 shifter, the fulcrum and gate pivot piece and the combo of the two were changed many times. the earlier cars had shorter ratios and the aforementioned roller sleeves. This allowed a slightly better shifter in some cars. I like the factory one the best in this case. A Wevo is a nice shifter and thank you for the kind words.

  • tds993 (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

I've seen this color in person.....it is a magnificent color! Other than the larger torsion bars, are there any other suspension upgrades? What shocks does it have. Is the shifter tight? I've always thought if I went older I'd incorporate the Wevo upgrades that I put on a track car. This appears to be nicely done.

Beautiful car - I was really pulling for the UPS truck. haha

  • patwilliams (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@JuanValdez Hi, I can see your point if I look at some of the pics. I put hood struts on and this pushes the hood up at the cowl. I can adjust. I believe that to be original hood etc. Looks good in person but I see your point. I believe I could fix rather quickly, car not bent.

  • JuanValdez (registered bidder) 1 year, 8 monthsago

Front hood fit looks way off. High at passenger side near windshield. Also gap along passenger side wider than driver side. Am i seeing this correctly?

@ERLY911 Didn't answer your 2nd part. It is Black urethane (very durable). The cars from this era needed more rust protection than they came with. This car was and is extremely rust free and it was an effort to keep it that way. It was built to be driven in the rain if desired. Thank you for these good questions.

  • patwilliams (seller) 1 year, 8 monthsago

@ERLY911 It started with the 205 Dunlop all 4 corners. The car would spin them at will. This was a good way to stagger the tire widths front to rear like the later 911. The tread compound on the P-7 is quite soft so it's a good match for functionality. Form follows function in this case.
