This Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, designated #182 of a limited run of 395 for the 1975 model year in the US, boasts a sleek black finish and matching upholstery. Expertly restored, its cosmetic enhancements were carried out by East Coast Autowerks of High Point, North Carolina, while mechanical refurbishments were overseen by specialist David Brown of RennGruppe Motorsports. This restoration included engine and transmission rebuilds, along with the installation of new suspension, braking, and steering components. Additionally, it received recent extensive servicing by air-cooled experts at IMA Motorwerke in Northern Virginia, involving upgrades to fuel lines, fabrication of new fittings, installation of aluminum lines, and more. This meticulously restored Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia.

During the restoration process spanning from 2022 to 2023, this example was stripped down to bare metal before a professional refinish in black. Carrera script decals were also added to each side, along with a 930-derived front chin spoiler and rear “whale tail” spoiler. It rides on black-finished 15” Fuchs-style wheels with Porsche crested center caps, chrome rings, and Falken Azenis tires (front 205/50, rear 225/45) mounted in December 2023. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features reupholstered black leather by East Coast Autowerks of High Point, North Carolina. Equipment includes a power-operated sunroof, power windows, and climate controls. VDO instrumentation now features chrome bezels, and Coco mats line the floors. New gaskets were installed for the doors and windows, and the seller notes that all gauges and electronics are in proper working order although the passenger’s side window operates slowly.

Power comes from a 2.7-liter flat-six engine generating as much as 165 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller states the engine and transmission were meticulously rebuilt to factory specification by specialist David Brown of RennGruppe Motorsports. This mechanical overhaul also included the fitment of all new suspension, braking, and steering components. In December 2023, IMA Motorwerke in Northern, VA conducted a comprehensive service, which included upgrading fuel lines with aluminum replacements, repairing the brake line at the master cylinder, replacing the oil pressure switch and thermostat O-ring, adjusting the fan belt, and completing a transmission-out overhaul to address any leaks.

This sale will include a clean title, a spare tire, a car cover, a battery charger, and the original air box.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a beauty and head-turner at local events. A perfect addition to an air-cooled collection, especially understanding the rarity of these Carreras. There are many "scam" Carreras from 1975 for sale on the market - hence the Cert of Specification from Porsche to prove that this is one of the 395 made for the US. The car has been cared for and loved, stored in a climate-controlled garage, and is a blast to take out on the weekends.”

@zuch how about contacting David Brown of RennGruppe Motorsports directly concerning your question about the engine re-build, a very worthwhile piece of research regarding this particular year, especially if you'll be bidding on it

@BoxsterGT thanks for the question. The original fuel lines were stock plastic and rubber. They tended to crimp and even crack at times. The aluminum lines are strong and much more reliable for the long term. They also look good too!

Please tell us more about the replacement Aluminum Fuel Lines.....

@Nes Happy to send to you directly via email if you want to share. Apologies…the post and details on the car have not been what I wanted based on the post going live before I could approve it.

@Nes Thanks Nes. I submitted a driving and cold start video to the PCarmarket team that seems to have been missed. Looks like I can add additional pictures but not videos. Let me check with the PCarmarket team on how those can be added.

    Drive video?

  • mowrydarren (seller) 2 weeksago

@zuch - Thanks for the question. No, I do not have documentation unfortunately. The work was done prior to me purchasing the vehicle, and I do not have the docs.

  • zuch (registered bidder) 2 weeksago

Do you have any documentation on the engine rebuild? Were all the studs replaced, and if so, with what? I assume new tensioners were installed. Were they upgraded to the hydraulic version?

  • mowrydarren (seller) 2 weeksago

The Carrera is #182 of 395 made. The write-up from the PCarMarket update has an error in it and was published before the correct data was updated.
