Available for auction is this 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 Sunroof Delete Coupe presented in Black over a Cinnamon leather interior. Vehicle 39 of a total 395 examples built for the U.S. market, this numbers matching Carrera features a sought-after factory sunroof delete, Sport Seats, gold Carrera-script stripes, and matching gold Fuchs wheels. With iconic air-cooled styling and desirable specifications, this 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller in Michigan.

This Black exterior finish, complemented by gold “Carrera” side scripts along both doors, is described by the seller to be in excellent condition. Detailed images have been provided in the photo gallery, showing a glass out/bare-metal repaint from its original Bitter Chocolate. Noteworthy exterior features include front fog lights, a distinctive “whale tail” rear spoiler, and factory gold-finished Fuchs wheels, wrapped in Yokohama tires.

The interior is appointed in freshly restored Cinnamon leather. This classic interior is stated to remain in impeccable condition with all gauges and electrical components remaining fully functional. Features include air conditioning with lower dash vents that blow cold, a date-coded thicker steering wheel wrapped in leather, Sport Seats and power windows.

This Carrera is powered by its original 2.7 L flat-six engine which sends approximately 165 HP to the rear wheels by way of a numbers-matching 5-speed manual transaxle. It is stated that the engine was rebuilt by a previous owner. A sunroof delete car provides weight savings while improving structural rigidity. In June of 2016, a comprehensive service was carried out which included a fresh engine seal, fluid and filter changes, a new air conditioning compressor, new spark plugs, and an engine overhaul gasket set.  While the engine was apart all sheet metal, aluminum and yellow-finished components were degreased and freshly powder coated.  In June of 2019, a full service was performed which included a new battery and Bosch fuel pump. Most recently, shifter coupler bushings were replaced and a stainless steel heat exchanger installed. Reported to be up-to-date on all scheduled maintenance, this 911 is said to remain in excellent running order.

The sale of this Carrera will include original books, tools, service records, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.  With its number matching engine, this 1975 Carrera 2.7 presents a great opportunity to acquire a seldom-available example with a sunroof delete.

That seems like an odd cold start video. It's not clear that we're actually seeing the car start and for some reason the car wasn't allowed to idle (or can't hold idle). Is there an idle issue?

@planetaporsche no sunroof. Sunroof delete. Either way, a very nice feature on a G body. In place of this postage slot opening you get a proper slick roof line, more interior headroom and a much more desirable Porsche.
Some like it with. That’s what makes the world go round. I’ll take my carrera without one.

You would need to check with the California DMV

  • planetaporsche (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@ZoomZoom I may be wrong so please check but I believe pre 76 cars in CA are smog exempt.

  • planetaporsche (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Lovely looking car. But "sunroof delete", no, more like not optioned at time of purchase. Neither does it offer additional rigidity but I would imagine a buyer of this would know these things. Personally I like my 911s with sun roofs, why wouldn't you unless you're building an RS clone.

  • Redwoodcitydoc (seller) 3 yearsago

    @ZoomZoom l do not know

    Stoddard Porsche of Ohio

@Bonzer It’s now replaced with a small black rocker and it’s for an auxiliary fan

  • Bonzer 3 yearsago

    What a car!!!!

What is the toggle switch left of the oil temp gauge is for? The A/C?

  • Redwoodcitydoc (seller) 3 yearsago

I only have the verbal from the estate of the original owner that when the restoration was performed by Stoddard Porsche they updated the head studs

  • ZoomZoom 3 yearsago

Do you have anything from the previous owner showing the case stud factory problem has been fixed?

  • Johnbugg (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@Redwoodcitydoc Let me know how you want to arrange it ? Thanks

  • Redwoodcitydoc (seller) 3 yearsago

@Johnbugg The paint is spectacular! I honestly can’t find any chips scratches or fading. I have a Porsche factory trained mechanic that could perform a leak down test

  • Johnbugg (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

How has the paint held up after 25 years , many chips or dings ? Also if I wanted a leak down at my expense do you have someone to do so ? Thank you

  • analogmike (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

@Redwoodcitydoc the document says "steel engine cover" it does not mention a spoiler.

I believe that means it was a rear spoiler delete car, some people did not like the look of the whale tail back then.

  • Redwoodcitydoc (seller) 3 yearsago

The document is the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity therefore the tail is original from the factory

  • analogmike (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Also the document shows "steel engine cover" option which should mean there was no rear spoiler. Is the tail an original Porsche unit or aftermarket? Metal base like the factory duck tails or all fiberglass?

  • analogmike (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Beautiful car! However the sunroof was an extra cost option, this car is normal, not a sunroof delete as on a 3.2 Carrera.

  • Redwoodcitydoc (seller) 3 yearsago

I just uploaded the cold start video. I apologize for the delay

  • Redwoodcitydoc (seller) 3 yearsago

Thanks for the kind words. I agree wholeheartedly ??

  • DriverM (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

For the life of me, I do not understand why these cars ( 2.7 and 3.0 Carreras ) do not receive the attention and appreciation they deserve. They were the first G Bodied cars to apply lots of the features that were developed for the 73 Carrera RS.
This example in particular is simply stunning! Well done and in the best colors for this car.
    Good luck with the auction.

Unfortunately I do not have the engine rebuild receipts. I purchased the car from Trissl in Alabama, they purchased it from the estate of the original owner. The original owner commissioned Stoddard Porsche of Ohio to perform a complete restoration with a bare metal re paint and engine updates. The letter from Stoddard is in the photos. If you look at the pictures of the engine bay you will see that it looks factory fresh. The car drives and handles superbly.

  • Johnbugg (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

Hi , Nice car do you have any of engine rebuild receipts? Thanks

The original thicker Carrera steering wheel will be included in the sale. It needs to be recovered and with the COVID 19 Pandemic my local shop was unable to do the work so I purchased a replacement

  • Redwoodcitydoc (seller) 3 yearsago

I will be adding a cold start video. The vehicle is too old to have a CarFax but is it accident free. I do not have any records with the exception of the ones from the dealer Trissl in Alabama

  • richinwhb (registered bidder) 3 yearsago

    Redwood city doc,
Will you be adding any videos to the listing; cold start, driving and walk around? A copy of a Carfax report and Any service docs would also be helpful. Thank you.
