This 1976 Porsche 911S Coupe showcases a 930-sourced turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six engine rebuilt and upgraded by Turbo Kraft for a dyno-tested output of 485 HP. The car has also been modified with factory steel fender flares, an IROC-style spoiler and front bumper, a sunroof delete, lightweight Lexan windows, Tarett sway bars and suspension bushings, Rebel Racing coilovers, 930 brakes and tie rods, Wavetrac limited-slip differential, a KEP lightweight flywheel, an RGate shifter, a bolt-in roll bar, custom GTS Classic Monte Carlo bucket seats, Braid RSR-style wheels, and more. This outstanding modified 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This 911 is finished in Antique White with a contrasting black hood and spoiler, racing decals, and Porsche logo side stripes. It has been modified with factory 911 Turbo steel fender flares, an IROC-style front bumper and rear spoiler, a frunk-mounted fuel filler, dual bullet-style mirrors, 911R-style taillights, and twin center-exit exhaust tips. Other features include front and rear tow hooks, yellow-tinted headlamps, hood pains, Lexan front and rear windows, GT Racing polycarbonate slider windows, and GT Racing PETEG Porsche 911R quarter windows with drip trays. The car rides on Braid Fuchs RSR-style wheels measuring 15”x11” rear and 15”x9” in front with period correct Michelin TB15 tires. An extra pair of rear 15”x11” Minilite aftermarket wheels is also included with Hoosiers tires.

The black interior features custom Alcantara upholstery covering the dashboard, headliner, upper door panels, and a matching three-spoke MOMO Prototipo steering wheel. Other equipment includes a pair of custom GTS Classics Monte Carlo bucket seats, RaceQuip safety harnesses, a bolt-in roll bar, RS-style door panels, an RGate shifter, Rennline Track Mats and floorboards, and a driver/passenger communication system. The battery has been relocated to the smuggler’s box with a Rennline dash-mounted quick disconnect kit. The seller notes the radio, stereo wiring, front footwell carpeting, and rear seats have been removed.

This 911 has a turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six engine sourced from a 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo. It was rebuilt by Turbo Kraft and upgraded with Supertec twin-plug heads, ARP rod bolts, 964 Dougherty cams, a KEP lightweight flywheel, Rare Late exhaust and headers, a Patrick Motorsports oil cooler, and an enlarged intercooler. A dyno-verified output of 485 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a refurbished 4-speed manual transaxle and an upgraded Wavetrac limited-slip differential. The suspension features Tarett Engineering RSR way bars and bushings, a Patrick Motorsports bump steer kit, 930 tie rods, 935 rear spring plates, and Rebel Racing RSR front coilovers with Bilstein inserts and rear shocks. The car also features late 930 axles and 930-sourced disc brakes. The seller notes the engine has been driven less than 700 miles since it was rebuilt.

This sale will include owner’s manuals and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is an incredible, raw 911 Turbo. No expense spared in mechanical updates and turbo conversion by TURBOKRAFT, the body is solid and features a well-developed patina. It's no garage queen and has been driven to many events by its current owner, it's ready for new adventures and twisty roads.”

Well, it seems that, for the moment, this car is staying with its owner. Having driven it, we don’t think that such a bad thing, as it’s a wonderful, visceral thing. That said, it will be the Deal Tank should anyone wish to discuss making a deal. A big thank-you to everyone that bid, to the owner that entrusted us to sell his car, and to the folks at @pcarmarket.

As this auction enters its final minutes, a quick reminder to our bidders that the auction clock resets when a bid is made with two minutes or less to go. Whilst it can be amusing, waiting until the last second may mean your bid doesn’t get registered in time. If you’re interested in this wonderful car please keep that in mind and don’t cut it too close. It also helps to refresh your browser from time to time. Best of luck!

Hi all, I know the owner of this car as well as the person who built it. It’s an incredible fast car that has a great hp vs suspension setup. This car was build for street use as well as some track fun with friends. Owner is not an aggressive driver and always takes pride and care of what he owns. To be honest, I would have bought this car if I would have know last summer that it comes up for sale. Instead I bought a very aggressive 1973 with a 3.6 Gamroth engine which I’m super happy with. I actually hope the car stays in the family 😊 Good luck everyone 🙏🏽

@vrschmidt: yes, we have a transport company that we've used many times to transport across the country, hauling everything from race cars to modified Broncos. Happy to help arrange shipping to the winning bidder.

  • vrschmidt (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Do you have references for transport to east coast? Haulers you have used before. Thanks.

  • designcentric 1 monthago

@Moose356 This is a very cool build, most of us don't care about the Star Bellied Sneetch drama around it.

  • compasscollective (seller) 1 monthago

With just over a day left on this auction, it should be noted that the owner of this truly incredible Porsche Outlaw is committed to giving this car a new home and will follow through with the sale once reserve is met. He's well-known in SoCal Porsche circles and has created one heck of a visceral car. Good luck and good bidding!

@tcmiami305 we understand the frustration, the owner of the bike is who caused the issue not @compasscollective

While this is extremely frustrating @compasscollective is a very ethical party who does a great job bringing interesting items and vehicles to the platform. Now that this has been addressed we can't allow any further comments on this particular thread as its unfair to the owner of this vehicle. We kindly ask you to take it off line if further assistance is needed.

  • tcmiami305 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

I’m hoping somebody from PCar market reaches out to me.

  • tcmiami305 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

It’s not about the money it’s about the principle
That seller shouldn’t be aloud to sell on here. It’s not fair to the bidders who support PCar Market

  • tcmiami305 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

That’s not true at all from the beginning, he never made an attempt to ship the bike I even offered to pay him more money.
Nor the seller or Pierre market has refunded me the the auction

  • compasscollective (seller) 1 monthago

@tcmiami305: we're assisting this seller with the sale of his vehicle, as we did with the seller of the bicycle. Our understanding is that you came to an agreement with that seller that led to him keeping the bike and paying your buyer's fee. That's between you and the seller. If you're unhappy with the arrangement you made, please reach out to us and we'll see what we can do to resolve it.

  • tcmiami305 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

He is definitely not a gentleman. He is shady and not trustworthy. I don’t know why PCar market hasn’t. Banned him. How could you put an item at no reserve and then change your mind after the auction closes three weeks later and tell someone they’re not selling the item that is completely wrong and unethical.

  • tcmiami305 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Be careful this seller is shady and not trustworthy. I bid it on another item that he has the Harley Davidson bicycle and after three weeks of going back-and-forth he told me he wasn’t going to sell it to me buyer beware do not do business with this guy.

  • Hudson 1 monthago

I’ve known this car for quite a few years, and have the pleasure of riding in it. This was one of four cars known to meet up in the early morning hours at the base of Hwy 74 for runs up and down the famous road. Usually led by Chad McQueen, this group would hold steady pace up and down the road, never lifting or braking while still staying at the speed limit. Those drives are seared into memory.

The owner is OCD about his car as we all were, and no corners cut in its build, especially the engine. The car is a beast - massive acceleration and phenomenal handling. It’s got a great presence about it, from the exhaust note to the small details that give it the right attitude. It’s easily noticed in a crowd of air cooled Porsches.

The owner is a true gentleman and it was unfortunate to see the kerfuffle below (understandably the RGruppe has strict rules) but glad this has been corrected and now the car can be discussed on its own merits.

Someone is going to drive a wonderful car. If it were mine it would remain in my garage and as I’ve told the seller, he’s going to regret selling it.

  • mikemOG3 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

@compasscollective: the hope was that the owner of the car, who was a member, would have prevented this or been proactive and asked that the ad be edited. With that said, thank you and appreciate your response and explanation. Good luck with auction and as you asked, let’s just focus on the car and its merits moving forward.

Answers to the more expected questions: @hot-rods-to-hell: The current owner purchased the car twelve years ago from the second owner – a police officer – who completed the widebody conversion in the early 1980's. The paint work was completed at that time. The car is registered Imperial County, California and is street legal.

  • compasscollective (seller) 1 monthago

@moose356: As noted below, we're assisting the owner of this car to sell it. We were responsible for the presentation of the car in photos and videos as well as approving the auction title and text. As we're not RGruppe members, we were not aware of the restrictions on advertising cars such as this, and apologize for the transgression. Complete responsibility for this lies with us, and would hope you take that into account with the current owner.

  • compasscollective (seller) 1 monthago

@mikemOG3 and @ibmiked (along with any other RGruppe members watching this auction): We've long been fans of the RGruppe ethos and its authenticity to a particular type of Porsche. When the opportunity to help bring this car to market arose we were truly excited, especially as the owner shared the adventures he's had with it and the Gruppe. That said, we're not RGruppe members and weren't aware of the Club's rules on advertising and selling cars accepted into it. As long-time PCA members and 20-year IMSA racers, we know the value of community and abiding by its rules, and apologize for violating those of RGruppe. We've asked that PCM remove any mention of the Club in the title and listing text, as well as removing photos of the book. We hope to enjoy some more spirited conversation about this unique car for the remainder of this auction.

  • Moose356 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

This seller has been removed from RGruppe for violations of our Bylaws, Policies & Procedures. Any buyer of this car should not consider it a ticket into RGruppe. It in fact might make your entry more difficult.
    Robert W Aines,
    President, RGruppe

  • ibmiked (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Does the seller also have a Freemason Ring that they want to sell? I mean jeez, talk about violating a fundamental rule of RGruppe (not making money off your membership). Good luck with the sale but it's certainly unfortunate how the seller chose to go about it.

  • mikemOG3 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

    @compasscollective
I think you are missing Marconi point..
This build looks more like a track car vs a typical RG sports purpose car. Also, this car isn’t the only short-hood in our club. The issue that rubs long term members wrong is using the club to market a car. This rule and expectations is very clear. I’m assuming the owner is a member so he/she should know the expectations. Marketing this car as a “RGruppe” car is a stretch as is and a violation of a hard fast rule. I suggest you reconsider how you’re representing it and respect the expectation/rules of our club.
Other then that, looks like a nice build for what it is, good luck with the auction as it should do well on its own merits.

  • hot-rods-to-hell (registered bidder) 1 monthago

also, ownership history and any paint work? thank you

  • hot-rods-to-hell (registered bidder) 1 monthago

how is this Porsche titled and is it street legal? thank you

  • compasscollective (seller) 1 monthago

@flatcrank: we haven't done a mileage run, and given the way this wants to be driven, we don't expect it to be particularly efficient... the lack of a radio makes FM reception problematic, but if one song seems appropriate it might be Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper".

@macroni: as noted in the listing, this is possibly the only short-nose 911 in the R-Gruppe. But as you can see in the gallery, it is featured in the book.

  • MB-porsche (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Stylish especially built and unique! the build cost on this one is today! wow, that will not be cheap! and Turbo Kraft engine is one of the best you can get! It is a very cool car!

  • macroni (registered bidder) 1 monthago

This car is truly ironic.... R Gruppe cars were sports purpose early 911s not late 70 turbos

  • witz (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Very nice photos and presentation! Looks like a blast to drive.

  • flatcrank 1 monthago

Bid in the amount of $55,555

  • flatcrank (registered bidder) 1 monthago

This one can tell some tales.
I'm curious to know the mpg and the FM reception for drive-time NPR listening.
