Up for auction is this 1976 Porsche 911S Coupe finished in Black over a black interior with blue carpeting and leather Sport Seats. This 1976 example was acquired by the seller from its original owner in August of 2019 and subsequently treated to a major 5-month refurbishment including new paint, a suspension refresh, gearbox reseal, and service of the fuel-injected 2.7L flat-six engine. As previously listed on PCARMARKET, this 911S Coupe is now being offered for auction by its owner out of California showing approximately 48k miles on the odometer.
This 911S sports nonmetallic Black paint along with an optional rear window wiper, front foglamps, Bosch H1 headlights, and European taillight lenses. Much of the car is said to have been refinished during the restoration by “Cars by Thermal” in California and the factory 15” Fuchs wheels have received new Dunlop tires.
The cabin is fitted with a pair of black leather Sports Seats with a matching dashboard, door panels, and blue carpeting throughout. Equipment includes basic heat and ventilation, a sunroof, power windows, rear window defogger, and speakers paired with a vintage AM/FM cassette stereo. The footwells have been lined with grey square weave carpet mats and the clutch pedal spring was replaced under current ownership along with the dashboard warning light, wiper blades, hood struts, and door lock knob.
The fuel-injected 2.7L flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual gearbox. The engine-out service in 2019 included new chain and valve cover gaskets as well as new spark plugs, cam oil supply line, oil pressure switch, fuel pump, fuel accumulator, and clutch kit. The transmission was also removed and refreshed with new gaskets and seals. The overhaul of the suspension included new rear shocks, front strut inserts, and sway bar bushings. Any possibility you could share some recent photos or videos of the car, not from the old listing?
One thing that’s happened in 14 months is rampant air cooled value inflation. The seller will definitely be seeing a much stronger result now.

I’m confused. This exact same listing (including identical photos) was listed on PcarMarket 2 years ago with no sale at $51K:

I’m assuming reserve was not met and dealtank was not used. However, why not post current photos of the car? A lot can happen in 14 months.
Additionally, the mileage from both listings is the same. Should we infer that the car was not driven a single mile in 14 months? 47,932 miles on this listing. 47,933 in the 2020 listing.

@amissair I am more than happy to work on all those things my best friend was the original owner of the car and I bought it from him. The car was completely gone through by Cars By Thermal in thermal California at the thermal race club. I have pictures of the bottom of the car I will post those today. I will do a cold start an a warm start video I thought that that was on there but maybe that didn’t get put up. The engine numbers are matching. Pretty much everything on the car is original because it has a few miles on it the interior has never been touched and it’s pretty spectacular. It has sport seats which was fairly rare and extremely dark blue carpet that was something that my friend ordered when he ordered the car. The sunroof works perfectly which I thought I put a video that on but I will add that. I’m also very happy to FaceTime somebody so that they can look at any particular part they want. The paint is now spectacular it looks like it just rolled off of the assembly line.
@Fury996 Yes the brakes were just completely redone. A complete alignment was done on the front in the back of the car also, New tires
and it drives like new!

Is it possible to get the following information?
1. undercarriage photos
2. cold start, warm start, hot start videos
3. compression and leak-down test results
4. photos of the headliner, front and back
5. Is this a numbers matching car?
6. 915 boxes are notoriously susceptible to abuse and 40K miles is a common interval for rebuild. Was this not necessary during the refresh/reseal?
The video helps but, unfortunately, it's too short on details. A video showing door opening/closing without door-catch clicks, startup procedure showing engine temp beforehand and idle speed afterwards, etc. would be very helpful for buyers on the East Coast.

Hi I’m Jack the owner of this Beautiful 1976 911. One of my best friends was the original owner of the car and I bought it from him about three years ago and then had the car restored by Cars By Thermal at the Thermo Club in thermal California. It’s a beautiful example of a 1976 911 and it’s in pretty much perfect shape the paint looks spectacular just the bottom part of the car was done as you can see in the pictures but the entire car

I’ve got the brother to this car. Same year, colors, but wind up windows, original paint, no rear wiper, and 13K original miles. A fine gentleman kept it in his heated and air conditioned basement for 45 years and just took it to compete in PCA shows. It’s an absolute joy to drive even though I hate seeing the odometer clicking new digits.
This car looks fantastic! It’s time for the middle year cars to rise up and claim the status they deserve!
Someone is going to buy this an absolutely fall in love with it. Not sure how the exhaust is configured on this one but get some MK or Bursch headers with built in heat exchangers and let the black dragon breathe.
