Delivered new to Ted Trudon Porsche-Audi of Talcottville, Connecticut in December of 1975, this 1976 911S Coupe came finished in Silver Metallic over Black partial leather with an optional Sport Steering wheel and fog lights mounted below the front bumper. The car is believed to have had three caretakers in its lifetime, the last two of whom were collectors and members of the Porsche Club of America. A rebuild of the fuel-injected 2.7L flat-six engine was recently completed at a cost of nearly $19k and the car has traveled just over 79k miles since new. Accompanied by records and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this remarkably well-preserved 911S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
This 911S came factory finished in Silver Metallic (Z2) among the earliest and most traditional Porsche colors. The headlight and window surrounds are accented by chrome brightwork and factory optional white rectangular fog lamps are mounted below the front bumper. The factory 15” Fuchs wheels are mounted with a set of 205/65 Continental tires from 2020. Removable mudflaps have been added behind the rear wheels and three notable paint chips are depicted on the passenger-side door, rear bumper, and decklid. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is trimmed in Black partial leather upholstery with blue carpeting and basketweave pattern seat centers. An optional 380mm Sport Steering wheel was equipped from the factory and an aftermarket under-dash air-conditioning system was installed by the dealer when new. A vintage Blaupunkt cassette radio was also mounted in the dashboard. The bottom of the driver’s seat is torn and a replacement seat cover is said to accompany the sale. Intermittent issues are reported with the oil level gauge and there is currently no compressor installed for the A/C system.
The air-cooled 2.7L flat-six engine features Bosch fuel injection and an output of up to 160 HP and 167 lb.-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. A full engine rebuild was completed at 78,710 miles including polished journals, refaced valve seats, new pistons, fresh seals, and upgraded Carrera chain tensioners. The clutch was also replaced at this time along with resurfacing of the flywheel, a complete rebuild of the brakes, rebuilt CV axles, and a new steering bearing. This sale will include a set of keys, the original owner's manual, spare tire, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title. For those in search of an unmolested air-cooled Porsche 911, this 1976 Coupe makes an excellent choice.

@TBKTX Hello, from what I have researched in '76 Porsche zinc dipped all body panels. It was not until '77 they perfected the proper etching and factory paint process. The areas that are photographed are the main paint issues. No other spots look like they are going to be an issue in the future. From 6 feet away the car shines and looks great, aside from the chips exposing the zinc panels. It isn't until you are in the direct light and 1 foot away you will see the paint is smooth but has tiny blemishes over the years due to the factory paint process. In photo 183 of the roof is a good example. The roof and near the headlights on the fender are where it is most apparent. Personally, I rather it in this condition than a questionable respray many cars have. Thank you.

@Classique07 Not a common occurrence but wanted to disclose it would bounce occasionally. Very common. Very tight engine with extremely minimal sweating. Most I have seen is a very small drop after sitting for almost two weeks. Thank you.
Can you describe the issue with the oil level gauge? Is the car leaking oil?

@CartBeforeHorse I agree, this particular car feels great. Everything feels solid, you can tell the German factory assemblers were the last to touch most of the car. I personally would daily drive this car without hesitation. Congrats on your 13K mile 911, far from common. Happy this car has been recorded properly through the years with "Actual Mileage" on the title. Thanks!
Lovely car. I have one of these in black with just 13K original miles. I also have a 964. When I get in the 76 it just feels light, responsive, and a bit more raw to make it a more visceral experience. Makes great smells and sounds too. With this silver car having had some significant mechanical improvements, I will say that this car may be the best way into the aircooled 911 world and may stand the most potential to really escalate in value. People are starting to realize these narrow body G cars have been wrongfully held back due to smog pumps snd thermal reactors in the California cars. Remove those items, add some case time serts and hydraulic tensioners and you really have a fun and durable 911. Add headers and a straight back exhaust 2 inlet to 1 outlet and you can wake the beast up. If you have not seen Nathan’s PCA video on the middle year cars check it out on YouTube.
