This 1976 Porsche 911S Targa is presented in Polar Silver Metallic over a black interior and features a rebuilt 2.7-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car is equipped with a CIS fuel injection system, an upgraded stainless-steel exhaust, lowered suspension, 16” Fuchs alloy wheels, front fog lights, and a removable roof panel. Purchased by the seller from its previous owner out of Laguna Beach in 2022, this 911S is now being offered for auction out of California accompanied by a binder of service records dating back over 20 years.
The exterior was refinished in Polar Silver Metallic under prior ownership. It features black trim pieces, a removable black vinyl Targa top, front fog lights, a driver’s side mirror, chrome headlamp bezels, a polished exhaust tip, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels. The seller notes the tires are approximately 3 years old and the exterior has been treated with a ceramic coating. Slight paint bubbling is present on the rear end, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The black interior includes manually adjustable front bucket seats, folding rear seatbacks, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, manual roll-up windows, VDO gauges, a quartz clock, a heater, and an aftermarket stereo. The seller states the door panels have been refurbished and the gauges are functional, although the tachometer requires a light tap to start working.
Power comes from a fuel-injected 2.7-liter flat-six engine that was rebuilt about 10 years ago. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transaxle that was disassembled and fitted with a new 4th gear synchro in 2001. Modifications include a lowered suspension and an upgraded stainless-steel muffler and heat exchangers. The seller notes a small engine oil leak, and that the 3rd gear synchro is temperamental.
This sale will include a spare tire, a car cover, service records, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is an excellent version of an air-cooled 911 S. It runs strong and likes to be driven. It’s the perfect car for novice or experienced Porsche car driver.”

Such a cool Targa, I hope this stays in CA so the blue plates can continue on with the new owner.
@rtaningco it was only rebuilt one time. We did not have book in front of us when we listed it so that’s incorrect
@1956Ford as best I can read the pic it looks like the cam tensioners were replaced with hydraulic ones. Can you confirm that and also please confirm if the head studs were replaced?
Great looking targa! I see the engine rebuild receipt dated 1986 in the pics but the description says that the engine was “rebuilt about 10 years ago”. Can you please clarify if it was rebuilt again? And if so, by what shop and what was done. Cheers
@JimmoCar u are welcome any time before March 19 to see the car. Thanks
Bid in the amount of $22,000
@1956Ford I just sent another PM. P Car deleted the other one, as I think they misinterpreted that I was trying to cut a deal outside the auction, which is not the case. Good luck here!
@1956Ford My PM.to you said I'm out of town all this week so I can't see the car but I'm local (Sherman Oaks) and interested. If you relist it, I will come and see it.
