Equipped with a signature roll hoop and wraparound rear glass window, the Targa model remains one of the most iconic air-cooled Porsche 911s. Refinished in Guards Red over tan upholstery, this 1976 Porsche 911S Targa underwent refurbishment throughout 2023, featuring a short-shift kit, M&K exhaust, new brake components, various exterior updates, and subtle interior enhancements. Additional work includes a top-end engine rebuild and clutch replacement. Showing approximately 128k miles on the odometer, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Maryland.

This 911S received a glass-out refinish in Guards Red in 2023, deviating from its factory Chocolate Brown (408) paint. The refurbishment included the replacement of the brushed silver Targa bar, black removable Targa top, chrome trim, rubber seals, and gaskets. Equipment also includes a driver’s side mirror, upgraded LED headlights, a custom body-colored rear valance, red-painted brake calipers, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires from 2019. A space-saver spare is stored in the front trunk, and detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin presents tan leather upholstery with a color-coordinated upper dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Modifications include a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, a 917-style shift knob, short shift kit, a Sony CD stereo, and Coco floor mats. Other equipment includes VDO instrumentation, manual roll-up windows, and a rear window defroster. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.

The air-cooled 2.7-liter flat-six engine is factory-rated at 165 HP and sends power to the rear wheels through a Type 915 5-speed manual transaxle. As part of the 2023 refurbishment, reported service included a top-end engine rebuild and a clutch replacement. The suspension has been lowered by one inch. Additional upgrades include an MSD ignition coil and an M&K exhaust system.

This sale will include a clean title, a spare tire, an air pump, a car cover, the original rear valance, and the original headlights and trim rings.

The seller would like you to know: “The previous owner had this example for 13 years. Most of the improvements are cosmetic. Highlights include the glass-out respray, new trim and rubber, custom pea shoots out the back, a short-throw gearbox, lowered suspension, perfect seats, and more. Everything works, there’s not much finer than this!”

The suspension is lowered using existing stock adjustments. The ride height is now where the car was meant to be as it is on Euro spec cars. Cars built for the US had one inch higher ground clearance. No rubbing or rolled fenders.

    Paint is base clear.

We believe the mileage to be accurate.

We do not have any records but when this car is experienced in person it’s clear that this car received extensive and very high quality work.

@ seller. Nice looking car. A few questions...
-any details on the new, lowered suspension? Any rubbing of the front tires? Were the front fenders rolled in order to accommodate the lowering?
-are records available for the repainting / restoration? Is the paint single-state or with clear coat?
-is the mileage true total miles... any service records to back that up?
    Thank you.
