This 1976 Porsche 911S Targa comes finished in Peru Red finish over tan/black upholstery. With its signature roll hoop and wraparound rear glass, the Targa model remains one of the most iconic air-cooled Porsche 911s on the road. Equipped with a 2.7-liter flat-six paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, this example has been undriven for the past several years and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Wyoming as the basis for a restoration project.

This Targa is finished in Peru Red and features a black Targa bar, a removable roof panel, a body-color driver’s side mirror, and aluminum rocker moldings. A black-finished rear decklid has been added, and the car rides on a mixed set of 15" cookie-cutter and phone dial wheels with mismatched tires. Several imperfections are noted including minor dents and scratches, detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features a tan dashboard and matching door panels contrasted by black replacement seats. Equipment includes VDO instrumentation, manual window cranks, a glovebox, aftermarket speakers, and a three-spoke steering wheel. Wear is shown throughout the interior, and some accessories have been removed.

The air-cooled 2.7-liter flat-six engine is rated at 165 HP and drives the rear wheels by way of a Type 915 5-speed manual transmission. The seller states that the engine turns over easily by hand and they will work to get the engine running during the auction.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for checking out my auction for a 1976 Porsche 911S in a rare color Peru Red. I have owned this car for almost 7 years, and it used to be a driver but has been sitting for the last few years and will need some recommissioning. Here is a chance to get a reasonably priced project that won’t take much to get into daily driver status.”

    I also uploaded a walk around video.

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 4 monthsago

    I added pictures of the interior.
    Not missing anything but the knee pads under the dash.
    Also showed the Decklid grill

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 4 monthsago

    @Jetpaul
    You know what happens when you make assumptions!
    The doors are complete. The knee pads are missing I think. I will have to check the back seat area. There isn’t much interior in the back of a 911 and I probably have pieces for that if they aren’t there.
    Let me check before you get too excited and throw in a wild bid.

  • Jetpaul (registered bidder) 4 monthsago

    @PcarLiquidators Since there no pictures of the interior behind the front seats are we to assume that it does not exist? I’m guessing the interior is probably gutted, with the exception of the 2 front seats?

    Have you made ANY progress in getting it to fire up?

    Thanks,

  • peterln3 (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

    Hey there, is there any boxes of parts that comes with this one?
    I see missing ignition switch, missing engine bay and under hood fuse covers, missing rear deck lid grill, and I bet there is more missing. Would just like to know what to expect.

    Thanks,Lastly what else is goin

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 4 months, 1 weekago

    The engine number is 6462120

    And the vin ends in 1976 which is cool

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 4 months, 1 weekago

    @Evantage

    We are selling off a whole collection of cars.
    We have over 40 to sell by June and then another 50 after that. Some will be cars like this that we don’t have much time to work on.

    This car is presented as a project that the new buyer can put a little elbow grease into and have a budget driver 911.

  • EVantage (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

    Does the car really have different wheels on the driver and passenger sides? Or are the pictures from different eras of ownership? More photos would help… top off, underside, suspension, etc,

  • PcarLiquidators (seller) 4 months, 1 weekago

    I do not have a COA from Porsche but it appears to be the original engine and transmission.

  • peterln3 (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

    Does this have matched engine and VIN numbers?

  • Check_61 (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

    Looks like the thermal reactors are gone and SSI exchangers are installed, which would be very good. Any info on the engine? Original? Rebuilt? Head studs? Thanks.
