Sold exclusively in the United States for a single model year, the Porsche 912E was introduced as a replacement for the outgoing 914 model. Sharing its chassis with the upscale 911 model, it was equipped with a 2.0-liter flat-four engine featuring Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection. This example was refinished in black over matching upholstery with cloth inserts and is equipped with 14” Fuchs alloy wheels, body-color impact bumpers, a front spoiler, four-wheel disc brakes, and more. This 912E is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania.

This 912E has been refinished in Black with bright trim around the headlights and windows. It features a sunroof and a center tail panel reflector with “PORSCHE” lettering. It rides on 14” Fuchs alloy wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich tires that are reported to be in good condition. The seller notes the presence of some paint chips, detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Featuring Black upholstery and cloth seat inserts, the interior is observed to be well-maintained, displaying no evident rips or tears. The car is equipped with a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel. The seller acknowledges some cracking on the dashboard but highlights the carpets to be in good condition. All gauges and accessories are reported to be fully functional.

Power is derived from an air-cooled and fuel-injected 2.0-liter flat-four engine that delivers up to 86 HP and 98 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. Recent service includes new spark plug wires as well as a new distributor cap and rotor.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, an air pump, a battery charger, and a clean title. Some additional parts are also included, such as a distributor, wires, brake components, master cylinder, interior parts, emission components, AC parts, a sunroof weather strip, and a front windshield weather strip.

The seller would like you to know: “Car runs and drives straight. Great car to enjoy and restore while driving. I would not be afraid to drive it anywhere tomorrow. Take it to your local cars and coffee next week. A clean slate for someone to enjoy.”

@sportscarguy3 thanks for your response. Yes those are cracks and need to be repaired. Included with car is a plastic repair dash panel, we didn’t put it on not knowing if new owner would want repair or put this cover on.
    Thanks for your response.

    Hello, from California
Enjoyed the car details and videos

Question in the driving video, it shows a substantial crack right in about the center of the dash is that a crack? Also appears to be a smaller crack, perhaps 2 inches to the left of that big crack towards the steering wheel, again, another crack in the dash?

    Very good looking 912 E

    Steve

@nobrakes The extra parts are included with the car are from the previous owner. The car does not need any of them in its current state. The pedal box may have been repaired by previous owner at some point. See pictures you requested of bare floor in the gallery. Pedal assembly is tight and works as it should. Thank you for your interest.

So, with all of these uninstalled new parts can we assume those are things that need to be addressed sooner than later? Of particular concern is the pedal assembly rust. Its rusted through the pan as seen from the bottom. Can we get a look at the bare floor from the inside?

@senecaman Thanks for your interest in this car. The car is freshly serviced and runs out strong. I don’t know the answer to either question as the owner passed away.

Do you have the original steering wheel
    The original outside mirror
The original Smog pump so it can be registered in California?

  • senecaman (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

Thanks for your interest. You are right on about your comments. You have a good understanding of the 912e. Owned only since early December and decided didn’t have time to do restoration to add to our Porsche collection. Decided to pass it on to new owners who would appreciate the car. Engine runs well as per video . Thanks for your comments. Senecaman

Looks like an honest car and not too far from me in Frederick, MD. How long have you owned it? Any info on the engine? The heat reactors have been removed which is a good thing for the life of the engine. Those sport seats are very nice and period correct 74-80. The heat exchangers pictured are from a bus/beetle I believe and do not fit the 912e. You have a spare 912E badge which is NLA and desirable to the 912E crowd. At one time it had the aftermarket CCCool AC setup. For those interested, this is about 95% the same as the 911. I'm currently doing a 6 swap on mine #1619. I think anyone looking to get into an early pcar would have tons of fun driving this to C&C as well as any road trip across the US. Lastly, WheelerDealers did an episode on the 912e if anyone is interested. GLWS
