This 1976 Porsche 912E has undergone a comprehensive conversion to an all-electric configuration, featuring a Netgain Hyper9hv 120HP electric motor. The decision was made to preserve its 5-speed manual transmission specification rather than opting for a direct drive setup, adding an extra layer of uniqueness. Reported to maintain its original Ice Green Metallic paint, this example has been covered with a vibrant blue vinyl wrap contrasted with bronze accents over a restored black and houndstooth interior. This modern take on Porsche's entry-level sports car of its era is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.

This non-sunroof Coupe is said to retain its original Ice Green (Silver) Metallic finish, which has been wrapped in striking blue vinyl with bronze race-inspired livery including “76” door decals. Details include chrome trim, H4 headlights, dual side mirrors, and a center tail panel reflector with “PORSCHE” lettering. It rides on 15” Fuchs wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires from 2022. Additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin has been refurbished with black upholstery accented by houndstooth inserts adorning the seats and door panels. Contrasting bronze-finished inserts have been fitted to the dashboard, center stack, and door panels. Other features include lightweight window roll-up handles, a sound system, a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, two replacement digital gauges, and Porsche logo floor mats.

Beneath the decklid, a Netgain Hyper9hv 3-phase synchronous recuctant internal permanent magnet (SRIPM) electric motor has been fitted. Up to 120 HP and 172 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Specifications include a maximum of 8,000 RPM, up to 95% efficiency, and 32KW of lithium-ion batteries providing a 1:6 kWh to kilometers ratio, offering a range of approximately 192 kilometers (119 miles). An Orion battery management system and a Curtis controller have been installed.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a full electric conversion!”

@Miller711 yes the wrap can be removed in and out within a hr or 2 with a heat gun, original paint color is great as shown in photos

  • Miller711 (registered bidder) 4 days, 3 hoursago

Is the car able to be taken back to the original paint. The door jambs and truck appear to be black now. Is the black a wrap that can be removed?

That was the joke on facebook and I couldn't resist it; 290 lbs weight gain is significant, I truly believe in what Colin Chapman said: add lightness. The 911 of the era are underpowered especially in the US version but they are light. Adding weight negates the very essence of a 911. I have a '79 911 Euro model, it is basic, no electric windows, seats, etc, and you can tell it. It is the same engine power, take your pick, heavy car, light car

@gstroe The 912 was hardly a muscle car;)

Ahh! ICE Green. I get it.

All of the original interior pieces have been either replaced or reused during this build. There is no additional interior parts for this build.

Thanks for everyone’s interest with the 912, looking forward to a exciting finish. The car essential drives similar to a new telsa, same pull, similar sound, with the added fun of a manual transmission. If anyone is concerned with my start video your welcome to view the car in person, this was a extensive 2 yr project and the new owner will be thrilled for yrs to come. That video posted is a start up video, it’s almost impossible to tell because it starts moving extremely fast just like any Tesla would once you stomp on the pedal.

Start from standstill and shifting while driving is essential to show. ?????

  • maladent 1 weekago

I was looking forward to the Ecar starting from a standstill and shifting in the driving video …:(

in the unwrapped photos in the back set, it looks like the car originally had a tan leather interior. Have any of those components been saved or were they reupholstered in the black and check?

912 Is about 290 pounds heavier with the whole EV conversion

The weight distribution is actually better now because the front end is constant and doesn’t change with the gas tank going up and down and weight and causing the front and wobbles. It actually drives straight as an arrow and has better performance.

Because nobody really sits in the backseat the extra 290 pounds doesn’t make a difference because the gross weight is never being fully used

    Curb 1160kg - 2557.35lb

    EV weight 1228 - 2267 lb

    Diff. +68 +290

With little engine sound/noise, does one just keep an eye on the RPMs when shifting through the gears?

  • kfee (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

Nice restomod. Do you know the total weight? Seeing all the batteries up front I wondered also about weight distribution potentially taking away the special 911/912 lightness of the front axle. Thank you in advance!

I saw a post on Facebook with St Peter telling a chap in front of him: "It says here you should be in hell, you've put an electric motor in a muscle car"

Same way you would charge a tesla:)

@bertsboat The car is extremely quiet, that sound is echoing off the back wall with a forklift behind me

  • Shelbydreamer1 (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

    @RodneyLadd extremely fast for a 76 912!

  • Shelbydreamer1 (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

@maladent It performs excellent! I will try my best to get some driving videos if the weather is in my favor this weekend.

    What's are the charging options?

  • Harley261 (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

When do we get to see the cold start video?

  • raudikal (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

@bertsboat Must be ambient noise from industrial facility. The car should not have any noise other than BMS cooling fan while at standstill.

  • bertsboat (registered bidder) 1 week, 6 daysago

What’s that God awful noise in your video? Is that what the car sounds like?

  • RodneyLadd (registered bidder) 1 week, 6 daysago

    Is it fast ?

  • maladent 1 week, 6 daysago

Curious to see how it performs. Video upcoming?
