The Porsche 914 2.0 replaced the 914/6 as the range-topping model beginning in 1973 and carried a fuel-injected variant of Volkswagen’s air-cooled Type 4 engine. This final-year example comes finished in Black over a matching interior with yellow plaid seat centers. This 914 comes equipped with polished 15” Fuchs four-lug wheels, a center armrest console, intermittent wipers, and tinted glass windows. Accompanied by its original window sticker and bill of sale from Algar Porsche Audi of Rosemont, PA, this one-owner 914 was recently recommissioned after spending several decades in storage and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania.

This 914 is finished in Black and includes late-model rubber bumpers, vinyl-covered sail panels, a removable Targa top, pop-up headlamps, and a new driver's side mirror. It rides on polished 15” Fuchs four-lug wheels that come wrapped in new Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The seller notes minor imperfections including a few dings and scratches as well as evidence of the vehicle being keyed. Traces of white paint overspray on the windshield frame are also noted as well as some surface rust on the trunk lid, trunk lid grille, front trunk, and the front trunk seal channel. The seller states that the car's paint is original. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is upholstered in black vinyl with basketweave pattern door panels and dashboard trim, yellow plaid seat centers, vintage Coco floor mats, and Charcoal Grey loop carpeting. Accessories include reupholstered two-way adjustable seats, a center armrest console, intermittent wipers, and tinted glass windows. The seller states that the rear window needs to be resealed and notes patina on the chrome and metal parts of the seatbelts. Surface rust is also visible on the emergency brake handle and in the door jambs. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

An air-cooled and fuel-injected 2.0-liter flat four-cylinder engine delivers up to 100 HP and 118 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual gearbox. Mechanical features include rack & pinion steering, four-wheel independent suspension, and disc brakes at each corner. This 914 is said to have been driven from 1976 until 1978 at which point it was placed in storage until October 2023. After being removed from storage, the fuel pump, fuel lines, vacuum lines, battery, master cylinder, brake pads, ignition components, odometer cable, heat control cables, and throttle cable were replaced. Additionally, all fluids are said to have been drained and refilled. The seller notes that a clicking noise occurs when the ignition is turned on.

This sale will include the original bill of sale, a toolkit, a spare tire, and owner’s manuals.

The seller would like you to know: Sit in the time machine and you will be transported back to 1976. Feather your hair and put on your bell bottoms. Tap the ignition and hear the factory fuel-injected 2.0L engine roar to life. It's time to head for the disco in style! Here is your chance to buy a nice 914 from the original owner. It runs & drives great. The car is completely stock and has brand new tires installed.”

    A very nice example of one of the very last 914s made. There's not much in the way of extras on this one, basic interior, other than the seat inserts which look good. The exterior has the extra cost Black paint option with some nice Fuchs, and that add-on quad-chrome tipped tailpipe exhaust. The car still needs some TLC and I hope it sells to someone who is going to bring it back to its former glory.

    @ianbsears We did not remove the rocker panel, but we tested the jacking points on both sides and found them to be solid.

    @dr914
    I just spoke with the seller regarding the seats. He said that the yellow plaid seats are what were installed in the car sitting on the floor of the dealership when he bought it brand new. Maybe the dealership swapped them out? Sorry to hear that you don't care for the recovering job - the seller sourced the same plaid fabric as originally used.

    @seller , sorry late to the game. re: rust in image 98. Has the rocker panel ever been removed to inspect the extent of the rusted area? If not have you used that jacking point and is there any concern that the rust is not surface?

    Although I certainly believe the miles the car needs a lot of help. First question I have is why were the seats recovered, and so poorly at that? Black 914s never had yellow plaid installed. Second, the car has been sitting in a lot of humidity so needs a lot of comprehensive work to "get it back". The good is that it is black, has factory sway bars and fuchs alloy wheels. A passing note is that it has the 911 targa top side vinyl on the roll bar NOT the pebble look of all of the earlier 914s. This is rare because it started when the factory ran out of the vinyl for the last of the 914s and started at id number 3750, but I just learned something! It started at 3749! The fact that it is a 12/75 build, the last of the 76 models and in my opinion the most collectable it is certainly one to consider and take on to bring back to its former glory (again where are the original seats an or why have they been recovered and so poorly?)

    I have so much respect for 1 owner cars someone who never sold. With all the things in life that come up get in way and happen it amazes me that people hold on for 20, 30,40 or 50 years.

    @9146max The seats have been recovered. The owner searched high and low for the proper replacement material and found it.

  • 9146max (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

    Is the seat upholstery original or recovered?

  • Sbani123 (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

    It's admirable that the seller made the effort to point out and photograph imperfections and flaws,
    Love the seats!
    Love the car.
    Love the farm that seems to have sprouted four 914s!

    @aboyandhisdog Actual mileage is 23,969. The odometer has not turned over.

  • aboyandhisdog 4 months, 1 weekago

    Being a 1 owner car, what is the actual mileage? I looked but couldn't tell if, or how many times the odometer has turned over. -Thank you!

    @Boxster319
    This car has been spared from the common problem of the battery leaking. Both the battery and tray have light surface rust but are rock solid. Pictures of this area (the "hell hole") have been posted near the bottom of the gallery at the right.

    It has been driven over the last couple weeks but not registered. It runs & drives very nicely. It starts every time with just a tap of the key. I am working with PCarMarket to get the videos uploaded.

  • Boxster319 (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

    Rust from battery potentially leaking from body to frame ? Has it been driven and registered since out of storage? Any videos of car running Ang going through gears.

    Every time I see a car that’s been keyed I think of John Travolta in pulp fiction when his car got keyed. He expresses the exact feelings you get when it happens to you.
