Offered for auction out of California, is this 1976 Porsche 914 2.0 finished in Lime Green Metallic over a black leatherette and tartan cloth interior. This final-year example is powered by an air-cooled 2.0-liter engine that has been fitted with a carburetor in place of the original fuel injection system. It was acquired by the seller in October of 2020 and is said to have undergone significant service including replacement of the clutch, repairs to the electrical wiring, new engine seals, and much more.

This 914 comes finished in the 1976-exclusive color of Lime Green Metallic (L98B) with black Porsche graphics on each side. It rides on a set of 15” Mahle Gas Burner wheels dressed in Michelin XZX tires from 2017. This 914 is said to have been refinished at some point under previous ownership and the seller notes a few paint chips throughout the exterior as well as damage on the rear bumper, bubbling around the antenna, and a scratch running along the driver’s rear quarter panel.  The battery pan has been replaced and treated with POR-15 along with the rear luggage compartment. Detailed images can be found in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed with black leatherette upholstery as well as matching carpets and contrasting green tartan cloth seat centers. Equipment includes a removable Targa top, a glovebox, manual window rollers, and a pushbutton Blaupunkt AM/FM radio which is currently inoperable.

This final-year 914 is powered by a 2.0-liter flat-four engine which has been fitted with a carburetor in place of the factory fuel injection system. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller reports that the clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, cable, and spacer have been replaced within the last year along with the brake master cylinder and an area of firewall around the clutch cable tube. Additional service under current ownership is said to include repairs to the electrical system and fuel leak as well as new shocks, struts, springs, a throttle cable, pushrod tube seals, rear main seal, and valve cover seals. Regular oil and filter services are said to have been carried out while the seller notes the car has not passed California emissions testing.

This sale will include a clean title.

@777AIA great information. I have some of the FI equipment and the smog pump. No need to smog other than registration. I have it registered in California without smog. There is an easy work around. But, I can’t sell to in state without Pre smog inspection and pass. Thanks I love the wheels too and love driving this car.

The FI is a relatively easy fix. Options readily available. I would not be afraid of bringing to CA and updating.
If you are that buyer, give a call to Suncoast, AutoAtlanta or Pelican and ask some questions.
I have always loved these wheels… my fav 914 look. Nicely presented. Hope she finds a nice home.
Miss both of mine… But the CaymanS is doing me proud these days

@tdskip correct car will not pass California smog and must be sold out of state.

The fire wall had wear damage around clutch cable, the sections was cut out and a new tube was welding in its place. Also clutch cable, pulley and throttle cables were replaced. The car runs and drives strong, has been service by two very reputable mechanics. Number availe on request. Also personal inspection upon request. Thanks

There is also extensive commentary on his exact car on another auction site from when it ran on 10/15/21 that is worth reading in full.

I’d suggest people take note of the compression figures on the gauge (which differ and are worse than the hand written note) and show a 15% +/- variance which is problematic. Engine firewall repairs deserve a very close look as well.

The listing should really just state that this car will NOT pass CA SMOG due to the fuel injection system being removed.
