We are pleased to offer this 1973 Maserati Bora finished in Red over a cream leather interior. Marking a major technological leap for the Italian sports car manufacturer, the Maserati Bora was unveiled with some significant features including a steel monocoque construction, four-wheel independent suspension, and a 16-valve four-cam V8 engine. This particular example was originally sold from Grossman Motor Car Corp. in New York before spending time in Oregon and eventually being acquired by its seller in Florida earlier in 2020. One of only 275 examples to have been equipped with the larger 4.9L engine out of just 564 Boras produced in total, this Maserati is now being offered for auction with approximately 10k miles showing on the 5-digit odometer.
This example is said to have been refinished in Red at some point during previous ownership, and a paint correction was reportedly carried out in 2019, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. The Bora's styling is by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign and is notable for its brushed stainless-steel roof and windscreen pillars, pop-up headlights, and glass-paneled rear hatch. This example rides on correct-type 15” Campagnolo aluminum wheels which feature polished hubcaps and Michelin XWX tires.
Inside, the cabin is appointed with cream leather along with a black contrasting dashboard and carpeting. The seats are said to have been removed and refurbished in 2019. The driver is supplied with power windows, analog Veglia gauges, a leatherbound steering wheel, and a vintage aftermarket Pioneer cassette deck which is mounted underneath the dashboard. A unique feature of the Bora is the pedal box, which can be moved forward and backward to accommodate the driver.
This Maserati is equipped with a 4.9L quad-cam V8 engine that can trace its roots back to the legendary 450S racing car of the 1950s. As much as 330 HP and 335 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by way of a ZF 5-speed manual gearbox. The most recent service items addressed in 2019 are said to include the installation of a new battery, spark plugs, and cleaning of the carburetor.
This sale will include a clean title and a set of keys. A stunning design and a true supercar of its era, this Maserati Bora would make a fascinating and exotic addition to any enthusiast's collection.
