This 1977 Mercedes-Benz 300D comes finished in Maple Yellow over a Tobacco MB-Tex interior and was presented to its original owner at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Stuttgart, Germany, via the European Delivery program. The car was imported back to the United States where it remained under the care of its original owner up until June of 2023. This impeccably well-preserved W123 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing approximately 96k miles on the odometer and accompanied by an original bill of sale, import documents, registration certificates, and service records.

The W123’s bodywork was designed by Bruno Sacco and Friedrich Geiger and underwent a facelift for the 1973 model year including a lower bonnet line and headlamps, a lower and wider grille, revised A-pillars, a single front bumper, ribbed taillight lenses, and larger side mirrors. This post-facelift example comes finished in Maple Yellow (606) and was factory-equipped with tinted glass, a heated rear window, fog lights, an automatic antenna, and 14” steel wheels with chrome and body-colored hubcaps. The car rides on a set of new Hankook tires. A custom pinstripe was applied upon delivery under the original ownership and some paintwork was performed on the roof panel to address some cosmetic damage sustained during shipment in 1977. An original claim certificate for the repair work is included in the car’s records. Detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed with Tobacco MB-Tex leatherette upholstery with matching carpets and wood trim. Accessories include black carpet Mercedes-Benz logo floor mats, electric windows, climate control, cruise control, height-adjustable front seats, a central locking system, a front center armrest, a locking glovebox, parcel nets, and an optional Becker Mexico cassette stereo.

This 300D is powered by a 3.0-liter inline 5-cylinder OM617 diesel engine that drives the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed automatic transmission. A binder of service records accompanies the sale including invoices from 2023 showing an oil and filter change as well as replacement of the water pump and thermostat.

This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, the original bill of sale and import documents, a binder of service records, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “I am very excited to be offering this early w123 300D to the enthusiast community on PCAR.  Basically, a 1-owner car since new, a nice young man and his grandfather bought this car in June 2023 just to enjoy for the summer and take to local cars & coffee as well as some shows.  I acquired it from them directly in an extremely well-preserved survivor condition. The originality and authenticity of the car cannot be duplicated, I strongly encourage anyone local to come to view the car at the PCARMARKET HQ where I left it for potential bidders to go see and inspect.  This is a well-documented example in a stunning color combination, the pics say the rest!”

@zamborg hello and thanks for the interest
In my experience they are super reliable, this particular car just had a good amount of service performed and is not in need of any maintenance at this time that we can see. Good luck if bidding

So just asking the community here. Not familiar with these old mercs but hear they're reliable (especially the diesels).

Looking for a daily any major concerns I should know about here? (My normal daily is a 987 cayman but looking to get something else and save that for weekends).

Your remarks include a sliding sunroof...yet, I see none. Does the A/C blow cold, and has the retrofit to R-134A been done?
    Thank you.
