This 1977 Porsche 911 Coupe underwent a custom backdate restoration by the specialists at Design Velke featuring Carrera RSR-style bodywork in Green Yellow over a lightweight black interior with Nomex-covered bucket seats. It showcases a custom-built 3.2-liter flat-six engine with Nikasil-plated Mahle cylinders, twin-plug heads, forged H-beam connecting rods, Dougherty billet racing camshafts, stainless-steel headers, a Sachs sport clutch kit, and a Kaaz limited-slip differential. This RSR-style backdate is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Wisconsin.

This G-Body 911 has been backdated and modified with classic long-hood bodywork, RSR-style fender flares and bumpers, and a ducktail rear spoiler. The exterior is finished in the Green Yellow (Gelbgrün, 137) a historic Porsche color worn by the iconic 911 IROC RSR race cars in 1974. The exterior is adorned with black Carrera script graphics, chrome trim, a polished driver’s side mirror, hood and decklid straps, and black Fuchs-style wheels with Avon racing tires.

The black interior features lightweight RS-style door panels, a three-spoke MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, and a pair of low-back cloth bucket seats. Other accessories include a custom polished shift knob, a REPA driver’s safety belt, a passenger lap belt, black rubber floor mats, pop-out rear quarter windows, and a 10k-RPM tachometer. The radio, heater, glovebox lid, and rear seats are removed for weight savings.

This RSR tribute derives power from a custom-built 3.2-liter flat-six based on an aluminum 911SC engine case. The motor includes Nikasil-plated 98mm Mahle cylinders, 10.0:1 CP pistons, forged H-beam connecting rods, ARP rod bolts, Dougherty billet racing camshafts, big-port 911SC cylinder heads, Supertec head studs, Aasco valve springs, titanium valve retainers, Clevite rod bearings, custom machined Turbo valve covers, Carrera chain tensioners, Supertec tensioner arms, a Burnham performance sump cover, and a 996 Turbo oil pump. The engine is also equipped with a complete mechanical fuel injection system, a Gen III twin-plug distributor, custom plug wires, a Supertec cold start device, a 75-amp alternator, 50mm velocity stacks, custom ITG air filters, an amber fan shroud/tin, a custom ignition harness, an RSR-style lightweight flywheel, stainless-steel headers, and a Dansk sport muffler. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle with a Sachs sport clutch kit and a Kaaz limited-slip differential.

This sale will include a clean title.

  • rmcmenamin (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

Was the donor car a 1973 or 1977, because you keep calling it a 1973. Yes I know originally RSRs were built in 1973.

  • thethrottlestop (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

Nope. This is the first time this car is being sold since it was built. This car is a brand-new build, someone will be the first one to really enjoy this masterpiece.
    Good Luck!
