This 1977 Porsche 911S Coupe is said to have undergone a Turbo Slant Nose style conversion in California before it was acquired by the current owner in 2008. The car features reupholstered leather seats, upgraded 930 front suspension and brakes, Brembo rear brakes, three-piece Fuchs-style wheels, and a Euro-spec 930 3.3-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. This steel-bodied 911S Slant Nose is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee accompanied by over a decade’s worth of service records and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
The Slant Nose body conversion was completed under prior ownership and includes wide steel fender flares, boxed rocker panels, a tea tray rear spoiler, pop-up headlamps, and a 930S-style front bumper with integrated fog lights. The exterior is finished in Guards Red, and the seller notes the front end and rocker panels were refinished in 2022 to address cosmetic imperfections. A new windshield was also installed in 2023. The car rides on a set of three-piece Fuchs-style wheels with body-colored centers and Toyo Proxes T1R tires (4916).
The black interior features a pair of leather seats which were reupholstered in 2017 as well as an aftermarket OMP steering wheel with red stitching, a carbon fiber shift knob, and an aftermarket Kenwood stereo. The seller notes the gauges were professionally cleaned in 2020, the ignition switch was replaced in 2021, and the air-conditioning system was serviced in 2023. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
Power comes from a turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six engine which was sourced from a European-spec (RoW) 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The front end includes Porsche 930 suspension, a strut tower brace, and brakes with red powder-coated calipers and machined silver Porsche lettering. The rear end was fitted with Bilstein shock absorbers in 2018 and features upgraded Brembo brakes to match the front end. The engine is equipped with an upgraded GHL stainless steel exhaust system and the seller states the fuel injectors were replaced in 2021 along with the spark plugs and distributor cap & rotor.
This sale will include a spare tire, an air pump, a battery tender, service records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.

@seller I am a bit confused...was this originally a 930 turbo from the factory, or was it a 911 Carrera with a normal 911 engine and later the engine was replaced with a turbo engine?

@ruf_kühlt ....like I have said this is a copy of the Title and I honestly do not recall why I secured one....must have misplaced the original Tennessee Title. When I bought the car I Titled and regiitered in Tennessee. Clean, legit Title
@mayart ....engine replaced and a stainless GHL exhust....do not believe any of the orig equipment is there. It was once reg'd in Ca but that was long ago

@PORSCHE1 did some research myself here… kind of a 3 pronged question from what I’ve gathered.
1. Will it pass emissions if we throw cats on it? (Could go either way)
2. Will it pass visual inspection? (Most likely, given it’s a US titled car just not the same engine, but if you have a stickler who knows their p cars could go wrong)
3. The duplicate title issue may prompt a ton of questions from the state that we don’t have answers to, so the question becomes what caused that and do we have a logical explanation; I could honestly see it throwing a wrench in 2 the visual inspection or at least being grounds for some more investigation on the states behalf.
DOES THIS HAVE A SHORTED GEARSHIFT?
I do have a similar Porsche 930 turbo and live in California and my Porsche passed the smog checks in the past when I was driving it regularly. Now I have it under non-op status. If it has all the original imported exhaust and cats and the air pump then it will pass. The only way to know if this car would pass the California emission tests would be for the seller to confirm that all the original emission components are in place, or for someone to do an inspection.
Can anyone answer ‘RUF’s question on obtaining a California title on this PORSCHE?

@Munich911 ...no... have 3 P cars ...no spotting on the epoxy. To my knowledge, car has been in Calif, Georgia and Tennessee...no fender solvent use in any of those States

The respray I had done prior to sale covered the front end and chin, as well as repaired repainted a small dent in left door under the mirror. Had the rockers. Reprayed...tried to clean-up road rash. There are a few touch up marks on top of rear bumper.. a few minor chips on the red Fuchs here and there. While cleaning up for sale noticed some roughness at the Turbo emblem. All in all very nice....but as I said earlier she's 46 years old!
It tough to get a clear picture of the paint condition due to the reflections. If applicable, please point out "any" paint flaws such as chips, bubbling, scratches, road rash, dents, etc.

@ruf_kühlt ....I assume so as it was bought out of Ca by prior owner and built in Ca and originally delv'd in Ca. That jabing been said...roll forward 15 yrs and the real answer is I do not know. Perhaps there is a Ca member out there who can comment?

@Munich911 ...literally that...a duplicate copy of the Title. Nothing mysterious. I have had a vlean title since purchase.

I know what you mean....this one was inop when I bought and I have upgraded the blower and added a cooling fan in back. Just topped up the refrigerant....R134. It ain't a 2023 system but pretty good for a 46 year old!
Curious about how effective the AC works in that car? I live in Texas and the older 911 cars struggle here with original equipment.

A very nice looking Slant nose to be sure. That being said, I am more of an originalist. Can anyone here with knowledge of Porsches give me an idea of what it might cost to return the nose to original appearence? And perhaps, what the Slant nose parts might net me after they are removed?
