Up for auction at no-reserve is this 1978 BMW E24 633CSi finished in Reseda Green Metallic over a tan leather interior.  Representing the first generation of BMW’s 6-Series range of grand touring cars, this E24 633CSi replaced the outgoing 630CSi in September of 1977, with a larger 3.2 L version of the M30B32 inline-6 engine.  Since the seller’s recent purchase in June of 2020, this example has received new tires, an oil change, and a fresh battery.  Now showing just under 97k miles on the odometer, this 4-speed manual E24 is now being offered at no-reserve by its seller in Pennsylvania, accompanied by an original service manual and clean title.

The classic Reseda Green Metallic paint is said to be in good overall condition with some patina and signs of road-going wear.  Some of the exterior panels are also believed to have been refinished under previous ownership (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  Features of this E24 include a retractable antenna, a single driver’s-side exterior mirror, a sunroof, and equipment for the U.S.-market.  The example rides on genuine 14” BMW basketweave wheels that have been recently mounted with new Michelin tires.

Inside, the cabin is appointed with tan leather, matching carpets, and a black dashboard.  An aftermarket Nardi steering wheel has been installed along with a matching wooden shift knob, and the A/C is said to have been converted to R134a.  A period-correct Blaupunkt radio is equipped and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly including the air conditioning.  The original steering wheel is also included in the sale.

The fuel-injected 3.6 L M30B32 inline 6-cylinder engine was rated at 177 HP and 196 lb.-ft of torque from the factory.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed manual transmission.  This E24 is noted to be in strong running order having recently received a new battery and a fresh oil change.

This sale will include a set of 3 keys, an original service manual, a spare tire, toolkit, jack, the original steering wheel, and a clean title.  Offered at no-reserve, this 633CSi presents one of the best values of any vintage European collector car.

Can you comment on the extent of any paintwork done on the car? There appears to be some evidence of drips on the side of the passenger door so I was curious about how much of the car has been repainted.

@SkyMotorCars, in picture 103 there is a bit of rust in the wheel well. As another mentioned, this is the area that rust likes to hide. Would you please comment on the severity and if possible, please post additional pictures.
    Thank you.

Interesting very early e24. Amazing condition really considering the age. Its had most of the egr equip removed. I can't tell by the pics, does it have a cat now? Is it passing emissions tests or exempt where you are? I would suggest pics of the inner forward fender area and under the front strut towers to confirm the rust situation. Not easy pics to get but thats where the rust hides despite the cars rust free appearance. . Great color and manual!!
